Dan had volunteered to help Hal's Brag group. He is a seriously nice guy. Very helpful! He had Kinger's suspension setup real nice in a matter of about a minute! Gave us BrewCity Brag memebers a lot of good tips. I know I was riding a bunch faster(still slow to most folks though) by the 3rd session. I still wish we could have had time to do a walk around the track with Dan 1st.

IIRC, he was also talking about maybe being at the Sept 8th track day at Autobahn<sp?>

Kinger, yeah, just think if Dale still had an XB how bad he would have embarassed us!!! "the other" Steve was quite good also.

Dan helped me out tremendously. He followed me around and then led for several laps showing me how and where.

I don't feel bad at all about being passed by Dave. I stayed reasonably close after the pass (due to lapped traffic and tried to follow his same lines. For the most part, I take the same lines, just not as fast. I don't feel bad about it, the dude is fast.

I had a great day regardless of who passed me. I got me knee down in every corner except 2. In my previous two days at Blackhawk, turn 4 was my big hangup, but by the third session I was getting my knee down there as well so I improved. It's actually pretty cool to watch the video I did last year and the one I did yesterday and see the difference.

As for being passed by Bilanski, I was (just not one handed - although I'm sure he could). I've been passed by a number of people like I'm standing still (Bilanski, Higbee, Paul James, Rick Breuer, Dave, Greg, and many others whose names I don't know. I'm not the fastest out there by a long shot, but I'm quite certain I'm having at least as much fun as anybody else and it's got nothing to do with who passed whom(although I have to admit, passing liter class bikes is a blast).

It was definitely a great learning experience. I am a better rider having gone yesterday!

Griz, you are right there are a lot of fast riders out there, it is about how much fun the rider is having.

I am looking forward to the next time I can go!!!!

Here is a shot from the end of the day
lineup
From foreground: Koz's M2, Steve L's S3, Chris Spunge Bob Buell, Chris's XB9, Steve's S3, My S3, and the last bike you can see is one of Daves, either the XB12 or the spaghetti mobile

Nice pics Dyna.

You can see the difference in experience when you look at all the different riders in the same corner.

Yeah, those are great pics, but you can't see just how white my knuckles are hanging on to that thing! Geez! What a HUGE difference there is between an XB and a tube frame!

Koz, I think the best way to compare the XB and the X1 is:

The XB is like a dog. It'll do whatever you say. Anything to please you!

The X1 is like a cat. It looks when you call it, but it just keeps going where it wants.

I'm sure with a LOT more time I'll be able to tame that cat. But for now the XB is way more confidence building for me.

Great stuff!
You guys are very fortunate to be so close to help and talent of that caliber.
That track is gorgeous!
It must be nice to see trees and grass everywhere. I think I would be too busy enjoying the scenery instead of paying attention to where I was going on the track - we usually have nothing but dirt and rocks, so it's easy to focus on what you should be doing!
Whos full faired tuber is that? Is that a bwb member? If so, please contact me - I have questions!

Was I the onlye guy who was distracted by the barrels and plastic near the trees coming out of turn two? I kept looking at it durning the first two sessions, I thought it was a bike.

It looked to be a pretty close match to Yamaha blue didn't it? I made it a point not to look real closely at it. After my first session, I asked Dave and Greg if someone wadded up a bike during their session and they said it was some barrels. Next session I looked a little closer and then I could tell. It didn't bother me after that anymore but it be nice if they were a different color.

I found out why it's called BlackHawk FARMS.

Turkeys! 2 wild turkey flew right across the track at head height in that chicane when I was there. scarry!

so keep your eyes open. It is pretty.

The only time I've seen a turkey fly that high was when I highsided a few years ago... and yes, I was the turkey.

We get the occasional tarantula or snake making a run(slither?) for it across the track. The mountain roads around here have all kinds of wierd stuff running at you: goats, bears, deer, bats... you name it, they're all out to get you!

Those barrels were very distracting, mentioned it to the track officials & they basically said "too bad".

Anyone know who was taking pics in turn 1? I would like to see if he got any of my "incident".

They need some camo for that.

Yeah, a camo net on those barrels would be nice. I also got a little spooked by the new asphalt patch in turn 7. I am sure alot of that had to do with it being my first track day and not knowing exactly what was important always. On the first session, everything seemed really important. The sound of my bike was way different from the street too. Something about clutchless shifts and bouncing the rev limiter a few times.
