I have it on good authority that the new Harley CEO, Jim Ziemer, is an avowed Buell hater. There were other things told but I'd best not post them here.

Why would you post a statement like that and then say but I'd best not post them here.???

Are you going to post those statements somewhere else? Is Buell gong to be disolved by this man? What are you trying to accomplish with this thread besides kinda slandering a guy without really saying anything. If you wanna write something bad about someone, stand up and say it, or don't start the the thread

Ok.. Let's get this Jim Ziemer on this board to explain his take on Buell and what his plans are. If he's truly anti-Buell.. then we'll just have to make his life horrible by stalking him in his professional life and let him know that we're more passionate about Buell then any 50 H-D only owners combined.

But let's not start a bunch of unfounded rumors. After all, perhaps he was misquoted. Maybe, what he said was he didn't like the way Buell was being funded and promoted and wanted to increase the funds and get the word out on the best bikes in the universe.. It could happen.. really..

Dear Bob,

I just think your opening post was one of the most irresponsible things written here in a while. If you want to quote the guy, then quote him. If you want to gossip like some old woman go somewhere else. I still don't understand why you started this thread. Please explain or lend some type of credibility to your statement. otherwise, shutup and ride....

Actually, I saw a picture of the man in our local paper's business section when his appointment was announced and I was pleased to see that he was wearing a shirt with the HD logo on the chest and a Buell logo on the sleeve. I thought that was encouraging.

What's unfortunate is that somebody who Nedwreck believes has strong connections told him that. Since I happen to know it's not true, the jerk is the guy who told Nedwreck that, not Ned.

It's a damn shame there are people out there associated with H-D who are doing their best to screw Buell and therefore are hurting H-D. Fortunately, neither Jim Ziemer nor other H-D leadership are among them.

Actually, that's even TRUER than it may, on it's face, appear.

Leaders, both within and outside of Harley-Davidson, are HUGE BUELL FANS.

When I say HUGE, I mean huge, huge, huge.

There are, I have found over the years, some who perceive anything new, innovative or 'crafted outside thier cube" as a threat...LEADERS don't.

If someone told me that, I'd color their credibility as having been swiss cheesed.

Beyond the fact-fancy dichotomy, there exisits the element of vindictiveness taht is enttirely another issue.

With regards to that, I'll quote the bumper sticker "MEAN PEOPLE SUC" and append it to say, "like stupid people". I hope one of these folks has their........uh....remind me to tell you at homecoming

: )

I recently attended POT training and had the opportunity to speak privately to as well as to party with some of the upper management and legal staff of HD. I found them to be very supportive and enthusiastic about Buell. The same goes for all of the instructors and I asked some very pointed questions during the seminars.

Here's some food for thought. If the leaders of Harley would want to get rid of Buell, why did they allow Buell to develop the XB platform or release the City X?

Koz. Sorry about that. I'm sorry I posted it. The people who told me this are responsible, sober individuals who have had a bit more than a passing relationship with HD.
Suffice it to say that what I DID post was the tamest thing they had to say.

Blake, that's all I'm gonna say on the matter. Please feel free to dump my post, asap.

It's nothing personal against your friends, but if you are going to post the type of statement you did, you should be prepared to back it up.

Just the facts please...

Ned, I think the only thing people here would want is a quote of what was said rather than a more speculative looking post. I doubt anyone here would hold anything against you for that. Would give us a good discussion, hopefully.

There are some Harley employees that dislike Buell, but I've seen no proof that they are at the highest levels. The fact Buell is still around tends to confirm this. I have personally experienced one incident that showed anti-Buell bias in the ranks, however.

Two years ago at Sturgis I was test-riding a new XB9S on the usual frontage road, ten miles down to Whitewood and back on the Interstate. The other companies use far more interesting routes, especially the BMW people. For those who haven't been there, the road in question has only one real turn on it, a kink to the left and over a bridge across a small creek below.

The factory guy leading us was a Harley employee, not a Buell man, and he was riding a V-Rod. I like to ride right behind the leader on these affairs so I don't have to worry about what a bunch of strange riders in front of me are going to do, but this time a young looking guy jumped right out in front, popping a big wheelie in the process, and then did it again when we left from a stop sign, even though this time I left hard enough to bring my own front wheel up aways. I thought, whatever, if he wants to be in front that bad.

Then we came to that kink, and things started to go very wrong. He seemed surprised by the corner. He got on his brakes hard, this on a corner where I wasn't even planning to use brakes, and I knew he was in big trouble when he went right on past the logical apex, still upright and on the brakes. Then things went really wrong, he drifted off onto the kitty litter on the shoulder and went into a massive tank-slapper that ended when he impacted the concrete bridge abutment and somersaulted out over the creek.

He was clearly badly injured but still alive when the meat wagon took him away. In the aftermath the factory people brought me back for a de-briefing session, as I was the closest witness, and they may have been worried about liability, possible fault of the bike, and all that.

They asked me how he was riding, and I made the mistake of saying he probably shouldn't have been on the bike. What I meant was, he seemed to suffer from a serious lack of riding skills and shouldn't have been on any bike. But the ride leader, who BTW never noticed anything wrong behind him and continued on into the next town only to find himself alone, jumped in and said "I told you so, Buells are too dangerous, I won't ride one, that's why I was on a V-Rod."

I think that was wrong, the guy probably would have done the same on a Blast or an 883, but this guy was trying to use the crash as a strike against Buells. He was not high management however, and the guy at the debriefing that obviously was high management by the way he was deferred to made no comment in reply.

im sick and tired of the factory getting greedy and screwing up the american cycle market. They should all just shut up and cater to Buell raceing and ANYONE that wants to MAINTAIN an OLD or NEW HD period.

Yeah then id be happy about the HD mis mis managment.

These pansies should see how i rid my panhead in a 1958 frame raised 1 inch rear end and 4 over tubes shaved 21 barley keeps me on the road I flick it around the corners sometimes like it aint nothing but a honda 250, yeah old rich people are the dangerous element here. Greedy too.

This is by far the worst thread I have seen. Jim is a real nice guy. A lot of people do not know how to make a motorcycle go through corners. I for one am a true beleavier in sport tires. All we can do is teach people motorcycles can handle.

Buell is extremely popular in Europe as well as gaining more ground in the Homeland. We're gonna be around for a long time fellas. Whether anybody at Harley or Macy's likes it or not.

Pass the sour cream and onions...
