i run a programmable ignition on my buell and after this winters mods the program is way to advanced for this set up. the lap top only needs windows 95,or newer, and to have a 9 pin serial port.

I have a IBM thinkpad (win 95) complete with original restore disks. The hard drive is 100% clean. I can check tomorrow for the 9 pin port (I am at work till 7:30 am CST).

If it's a think pad, it more then likely has the 9 pin serial port, especially a machine from that era. If you have trouble getting windows on it (i.e. no CDRom or no working CDRom) ping me offline, I have some cool alternate approaches.

It might be a non standard UART driving the serial port though, if you get it and windows has problems recognizing the port, you may need to hunt up a bios utility to tell the IBM uart to play dumb and act like a legacy serial port.

I would say to go with an IBM or Toshiba laptop. As a computer tech i have found these to be better quaility and last longer than most other brands.
