Wycked, I can only say I've been there. It happened March 9th 2004. I went over the handlebars of my FZR. Ended up with a broken wrist (with a dislocated bone), broken elbow and injured my back. Took me 3 months to heal and about 2 months of therapy. Best I can tell you is no matter how bad you wan to get going, take it slow. Let your body heal up. Once that happens and your done with therapy, get the bike fixed or replaced and get back in the saddle, if you so desire.

Cataract, this PMS is killing me ; ) Yeah, they are talking 4-6 months of therapy since I have screwed up the main nerve trunk for my arm pretty damn good. Looking at a rough estimate of about $600-$800 in parts and all work will be done by me. I keep getting told to post a list of parts I need to see if anyone out there can donate since this has also put me out of work but not eligable for unemployment since I am not available for work. State financial aid is still to be determined beyond the medical I am getting right now.

If I am remembering the right picture, Wyked did the "spontaneous chopper conversion" some time back trying to take Courts place as reigning Buell pole vault champion...

The picture made a great add for the Buell frame pucks though.

BTW Mike, did the post office ever reimburse you for those DVD's they mangled?

Reep, they sure did, my bad for not letting you know.

The Doc put me in a hinged brace today so hopefully I can get some good sleep. Moved the surgery back from the middle of May to the beginning/middle of June. 2/3rds of the visible hardware in that Geigeresque pic is permenant. The staples got removed after that pic was taken. Found out I had also dislocated some of the bones in my right hand. Hopefully tommorow I will have Garage pics of the damage and a list of what I need, ideas will also be welcomed. I have another 9-10 weeks of unpaid leave, if I get a unrestricted bill of health, I walk right back on shift...if not, I reapply with head of the line status for the next available shift.

Glad to hear that. Not much I could do about them getting damaged, but if it were not for me you would not have had the problem in the first place. You wouldn't take my 9sx stock ECM, so I felt like I owed ya!

Let us know if we can do anything for you while you are recovering, or to help get the bike back together.

I have decided to return the bike to a stock Lighting configuration so if anyone has a Lightning top triple, or stock Lightning headlight assembly, side screens or flyscreen they want to discuss I would greatly appreciate it. I will be reupholstering the seat, already have replacement exhaust canister/header, stock footpegs and brackets, as well as the stock brake lever. The hand controls survived very well, honestly, none of them got bent so its all good there. I do need to buy a new front engine mount and isolator, front and rear axles, steering head bearings. I have my parts book now so I can sit down and put together part numbers but it hasn't been exactly a warm feeling type deal if you know what I mean. Thanks

You still looking for top triple? Lemme know - one of our race group who started with an XB9S is changing to -R fairing and bars. It's not certain but he might cough up a top triple - won't know for a couple weeks til race weekend

email me if you want me to ask at (remove the BUELL to get my email)

I'm not sure what makes me hurt more - your arm damage or the bike... double dang!

Damn it looks worse than I thought.

I am surprised though that the passenger peg mounting brackets held up. They do seem to provide good protection.

How is the swing arm? Did you have axle sliders?

Wish I could help man, but all I have for you is a spare front isolator bolt. Nevertheless, it's yours if you need it.

HOLY *@*$%!!!! Glad you survived it. Hope you heal up quick.

I think this should put any questions about steering head strength (due to the break-away design) to rest!

Dan, not going to get into the insurance aspect as some of it is my fault and some of it has to do with insurance fine print on the policy. Suffice to say, this mishap is not going to affect my rate in any way as there is no claim filed, even if I had, the sum of the parts would still fall short of my misguided deductable.

Once again just adding to an already exhisting thread, here are the pics of the jacket and glove after the wreck.

Full size view of the jacket, the two white spots are at my shoulder and elbow. The EMT's did cut the jacket away so its layed out flat. Some scuffing of the jacket but nothing else worth noting except whats pictured.

The only spots where it wore thru the jacket...one of course being me elbow...

The backpouch that contained my Digital Rebal which is no longer working...go figure : D

The only glove that made it home. The section that looks smashed out is a hard plastic with "kevlar" reinforcement.
