Neither would work for you XB9SX or any of the street going XB's. The clamping bracketry is too tall to be safely attatched above the triple without raising the forks up through the triples, which from experience I would highly recommend you stay away from. You need clip-ons similar to the Crossraods thin clamp/single bolt style. Under triple mounted clamps have no room due to the side bracketry for the flyscreen headlight assembly. | ||

You'd have to buy the "R" triple, the handlebars and hardware, and maybe the "R" brake line. Drop Daves at Appleton a line and he could price it out for ya... | ||

Ken, I ordered some Crossroads bars, for track days at least, after talking to Daves. American Sport Bike has them. I can let you know how it goes once they get on my CityX. Charlie | ||

Blasterd- Fellow BWB'r Rubberdown put some Crossroad bars on his 12S. I won't speak for him, but I did get a chance to ride it, very, very nice. I didn't fel the need to get off the bike in the corners, mor stable control platorm. When I get the $, my 9S will have'em. | ||

Whats so hard about moving the upper triple clamp sliding them on and putting the clamp back on according to speck - seamed easy enough to me - and you can use the spacers for height if you find it a bit low - heck thats 2 1/4 inches up to you can adjust them up to & widen them that much on each side for clearence - did I mention they are four way adjustable - lol - these are not regular clipons - lol GT - JBOTDS! The Crossroads bars are the way to go on an S or Sx, but the 0 degree down angle ones are the ones to get. I had the -7 degree stock one on the shop XB9S, and thought they were too wide and low. The 0 degree down angle ones that we had crossroads make for us are about perfect, IMHO. They are a little higher and a little narrower, and fixes my only complaints with the crossroads offering. EZ on the S models the sideplates for the flyscreen and gauge mount are flush with the forks in those areas. Also the forks are tapered in the areas below the triples that affects the compression areas in the clamps. If you decide to go with the fire bolt top triple you will need to make a new mount for your ignition as well as trim your key down. I beleive Torquer from the either the 3%ers or the Carolina Corner Carvers. You might try a search for "firebolt triple on a lightninh" or some such. | ||

Then use up to the 2 1/4 total spacers for the height you want and mount them under the top of the screen mounting - mounting the top tripple tree back over that - you would then be mounted on the non-tappered section and still be 1 1/4 higher than regular clip-ons - if you use one small spacer you would be the same height as regular clip-ons - including the space considered for the screen mounting - the crossroad clipons and these clipons would be aprox. same height with the addition of one large/small spacer combo yet you would have added adjustability for comfort - because of the extra space used for the fairing top mount - you could not bring them to almost superbike height, but you could bring them up to half superbike height - as I and a few others ride at, and you could bring them forward and down for any track days you have planed - having the best of both worlds - I said these are not regular clipons and I ment it - that is why their price is a bit more with spacers included - because of their massive adjustability! EZ, you just are not seeing the picture...and I don't have one handy...Go LOOK at the flyscreen assembly on a Lightning/SX model. There is no room between the flyscreen/gauge mount assembly and the forks as they are flush mounted. The sideplates butt up against the forks and are attatched to the top tripletree at the same time. It is not like on a Blast where you have a gap, or a fork mounted bracket that is about 2-3 inches wide and easily moveable if needed. The Sideplate runs the length of the forks between the triples. | ||
