Will do. Weekdays are full thru the month and into May a bit. If I can do some work on the bike I want to hit the Crud Run. Got a different type of a mule to deal with first.

It seems i am not alone in confusing people. Its funny, but i get the biggest grin when little kids take a liking to my bike....well, and cute females of course.

and, in my regard, buells are definately crotch rockets as well. sitting on top, or in, 100+hp motor with a front and rear wheel attached is definately a rocket. perhaps jap bikes fit "Rice rockets" better.

Face it, the reason you bought the Buell is because you're dumb. Or maybe just ignorant. They aren't a very good motorcycle, that's a fact, jack.

Me too. I bought one of the damn things, and since then I have bought a couple nice Japanese motorcycles and there's no comparison between the two that show favorably for the Buell, none.

Not only am I dumb ignorant, but stubborn. I refuse to sell it. Wouldn't if I could. Why? You ask, would I keep a Buell if I don't like it?

I'm dumb, ignorant, and stubborn, that's why. Same as you.

Actually I bought a nice new Japanese bike to replace my Buell and after $2000 in upgrades I think I'm almost there.

I bought my first naked Buell strictly for its' looks. Sweet from my perspective. I also bought my Buell(s) because I was to old and scared to ride a real crotch rocket. I already knew how fast the real crotch rockets were as far back as the early 70's, like the Kawa H1 and H2's. I also was smart enough to know I couldn't handle anything that scary fast. Since Buell(s) are so easy to ride everyone would think I was a racer, including me. You know, sort'a like Rossi but on v-twin. Hell just the sound of a Buell alone makes it seem fast, to me anyway, and everyone that hears it thinks the same damn thing, that it's fast. And lastly, it was Made in the U.S.A. by a company owned by folks like me, you know, made in the U.S.A.

"there's no comparison between the two that show favorably for the Buell, none."

I shall now prove you wrong crab man. : )

1. "Buell"... less syllables to pronounce, rolls right off the tongue, byool. Versus Sue-zoo-key. They make little cheap cars too right?

2. Any Buell without "touring" bars on it looks infinitely better than any Suzuki.

3. Better fuel mileage.

4. No valve adjustments.

5. Much more likely to frighten red head girl following to closely and thus avoid inconvenience, pain, injury, and trashed motorcycle.

6. No chain.

7. You can periodically meet the guy who's name is shared by the bike. He's pretty friggin cool too.

8. Everyone who rides a Buell eats lots and lots of Salmon.

9. There are a dearth of Suzuki riders who are able to afford anything more than farm raised catfish; most often they prefer plastic to good ole American wood.

I was hoping I could draw Blake out. How you doing big guy? When you comming out west again? We're building a mega bike for Bonneville that you would probably find 'interesting'.

We have to cut and rake the front of the Zuki (one sylable, like Buell) and rake it 6 degrees or 100 mm, to make room for the twin flow turbo and intercooler.

I'm told it will make 400 hp on high boost. That should be fun!

P.S., I had dinner in Inshinomaki with Mr. Suzuki San.

Muell is a good comparison. A Mule is what you want in the mountains and the Buell proved to be a mountain bike. I know, no news to most of you guys. I spent three days riding in and around Suches GA. First time I had the Buell in the mountains and now I see why these bikes are truly the kings of the hills. Other than Buellish and Norbert, I could keep up with just about anybody up there. Even though most of my riding was with the other Buells (four S2 and my odd ball M2, plus the 3%r's came, then found a lonely S1 that joined in), I did find the time to ride with some other bikes.

Ran down a group of 500cc two-strokes, got into a three way jaunt with an RG500, myself and an R1. In the valleys, the R1 had no problem keeping pace, but when we hit the mountain passes, me and the two-stroke left Mr. R1. After waving off the two-stroke when we caught up to his buddies, Mr. R1 and I continued up and down the mountain. Somewhere along the way he gave up because when I came down into the next valley I did not see him until I pulled over to turn around. Unlike the two-stroke, for some reason he did not wave to his fellow rider as he passed me on the side of the road. I do not know why.

Later that evening, I was making a beer run and caught up to a couple of guys that were also staying at T.W.O. The guy in the lead was on another RG500 and his riding partner was riding a GXR750. We were having a great time until I noticed the Gixxer jerking around, I feared the rider was maxed out and I was pushing him too hard. I back off to let him relax a bit. His buddy in the 500cc two-stroke left us. I was not about to try to pass the Gixxer because I did not want to spooking him.

Next day on the ride home, we caught a ZX9R. We were going up hill on a federal highway where there was passing lane. I rolled up next to, then passed, the Kawa. The guy looked at me as we were going through a tight left-hander, and even through his full face helmet I could see his amazement that this roaring bike pulled up on him with luggage strapped on and all, then proceeded to roll on ahead. He to fell off back in the distance. I pulled off at the top of the hill for a minute and 1313 and I followed the Kawa for several more miles. When we parted ways the rider in the Kawa honk and wave. What is about R1 riders? They are almost as bad as Goldwingers.

So if a mule is for the mountains, I say the Buell is ready for the trip.

5. Was a mistake, that girl was so cute I've been thinking of riding back up to B.C. so she could run over me again. Yes it hurt, and it totaled the bike, but she was really cute....

As for the Goldwing riders? I have a Goldwing, and I always wave. Its the Beemer riders that be snobs.

the buell is loud, obnoxious, fun, disorderly, good-looking, powerful, unique, nice-sounding, smooth, reliable (for the most part), exciting, never gets old...

all traits that may be used to describe my bike as well as me, and I would guess fit many of you on the board.

can't say i dont' enjoy the occasional romp on the CBR or R6, and if I could afford to own both, i probably would, but until then, there is only room for one horse in the stable, and that steed is called Lightning.

Speeeekin o' folks whut don' know no better 'n buyin a Byoull...

We're racing this weekend again - and on Byoulls too (well, not me, I'm still laid up but will be hanging out and being a general pain to everybody else who's racing)

We're a special category of stupid.

Next month at Willow Springs, the demo truck is coming out and we've heard that if he can make it, Erik his own bad self is going to stay overnight to hang with our mob in the pits for the racing on Sunday.

Email if you want specifics but racing is always 3rd Sunday of the month (NOT the 3rd weekend - 3rd Sunday!!)

We always have a BBQ going in the afternoon on Saturday so anybody who shows up can throw chunks of animal flesh on the grill and hang with the other nutjobs.

I aint ashamed but aint too proud neither.

Call it a Muell - don mean nuttin

Still remember a country boy at gas station in Tennessee looking at the gas tank on the bike and spelling out B-u-e-l-l and saying "Birelli,is that one of them Eyetalian bikes?"
I just nodded and said yup.

When I was in ER - everybody kept telling me to tell the neurologist that THIS IS NORMAL and to quit trying to find out what was "wrong" with my head.

My reason for buying Buell can be traced to purchasing a XLCR in '79 and always wishing for something similar (V-twin, "sport" design) that actually motored, handled and stayed composed (and together). Got it all in the Buell.

My reason is pretty much the same as Fly's. The only difference is my reason can be traced to a 1992 Sportster. I thought about sinking a lot of money into the Sportster with after market suspension, exhaust, etc. but then I saw the Buell M2 and figured I could save a lot of time and money by just buying that. So I did!

I also realized that no matter how much money I sank into the Sportster it would never be an M2!

A drunk H-D rider kept referring to my Buell as a "mule" once. I think it was just a problem with his ability to pronounce.

Why own a Buell?? You meet people like FMJ, turned his into a LSR bike with turbo, did most of the work himself and he did not start out as a race mechanic. fitted a fairing to it too.

There is a very high percentage of "interesting" people riding them. This year mine comes off the salt and becomes a street bike again, only question is how much "detuning". So far maybe a visit to Hoban to change valve guides is all it really needs. It still looks stock

for me it was just a matter of size,
apparently the japanese do not think
a 6"10` person would ever ride their bikes :-)

and it has similar characteristics to myself :
big
bulky
loud
non conforming
form follows function ...
