question on Synth Oil Shelf Life --

I found about 3/4 case of Golden Spectro oil in the way back portion of the entropy lab -- it's about 4 years old --

what's the shelf life on a synth oil, anywho?

I never heard of a shelf life for oil. If it'll hold up for ~3000 miles in your engine, sitting on a shelf in a sealed bottle for 4 years hopefully won't hurt it.

...depending on weather conditions, maybe about 3-400 years? Possibly longer. Designed for stability under extreme operating conditions; unopened/not contaminated...use it, keep an eye on it and change it. Recycle it to the lawn mower, garden tiller, etc.. IMHO...as a last resort, call the manufacturer or visit their website; however, if I was trying to sell oil, I'd tell you it was already bad, shouldn't be used, throw it in a recycle bin at the auto parts store and replace it with the latest product...

Its junk. Send it to me and I will properly dispose of it for you. Don't try to do this yourself as it is very dangerous and should only be attempoted by a trained professional such as myself!!

We are looking at a late 70's early 80's Fiat right now, waiting for the owner to get back to us about its actual vintage/status and particulars.

Wycked - I was just blasting around in my alfa spider last night. Gotta love those little Italian cars.

I would prefer a Triumph or MG, but a well sorted Fiat can be just as fun.

A friend of mine has a '76 Fiat Spyder. That's a fun little car, especially since she lives on one of the nicest non-goat-trail twisty roads in the area. It's a good thing I know she drives that road every day, otherwise she'd never be able to pry my hands off the armrest after a ride with her, lol...

In 1962 or '63 I had a bright red '59 AH Sprite. I paid just under a thousand dollars for it and spent just over a thousand dollars on the damn thing in the year I owned it and when I sold it the rods were knocking. A huge POS but still, it was my all time favorite car.

Oh BTW: Synthetic oil should last for about four and a half million years if the bottles are sealed

Bomber... never mind the oil... I just ate a dinner of a can of six year old beans and ten year old nacho cheese. I was so hungry...

Didn't find out about the nacho cheese until my friend came home and said "Uh... Charlotte... I don't even remember buying that it was so long ago..."

Life with a biker man can be so interesting...

I have a three wheel lawn edger that I got at a "going out of business sale" about 20 years ago. The first thing I did was put Golden Spectro in the engine. I have, to this day, never changed it. I use that edger about twice a month on average...

Charlotte, might I suggest a tent downwind from the house and possibly the neighbors homes as well?

Pammy -- not sure if the lawn mower would thrive on 15-50w ;-} -- mebbe i'll just pour it on the wooden bench to preserve it

Bomber...You're a fellow Norseman. Use your imagination and use it to store your Sardines.
