I don't have any screen capture stuff on my computer, I'm sure somebody will post a pic eventually. They will replay it at midnight if anybody wants to tape it. Here's the story. I spent most of the day on Monday test riding cruisers, so Tuesday was going to be Sportbike day. Buell was on the list, so was Triumph (Speed Triple, Sprint ST) and whatever else I could get on. However, Tuesday was extremely windy at Daytona, to the point that both Buell and Triumph canceled their demo rides for that day. This was also the day after my tankbag had gotten stolen, which had my Vanson/Buell jacket in it, so I had nothing to wear for the Demo Ride, other than my Blue Vanson Streamliner vest and my Buell raingear, so that's what I wore. Anyways, Yamaha and Suzuki were doing demos even with the windy conditions, so I managed to get a demo ride on the FJ1300/Vmax and Suzuki DL1000/SV1000. While I was getting on the FJ I noticed the Speedchannel crew was filming so being the shy person that I am I asked them if they wanted me to talk about the FJ I was about to ride. They said, yeah we're doing a feature on this bike and we want people's feedback about it. So I talked about how the demo rides let you get a feel for the bike but not really push it in terms of acceleration and braking because of the lead/chase rider keeping things under control. I also talked about how I had read about the excess engine heat that the bike put out at stop lights and so on. This interview was taken while I was still wearing my Helmet. So I rode the bike and they interviewed me about it afterwards. The main things I said were edited out of the interview, but they did show me talking about the engine heat(noticeable, might be annoying in hotter weather), the adjustable windscreen, and that the bike's FI/Shaft Drive made for a herky jerky ride below 20 mph, but after that it was fast The one question that they asked that they did not show my answer to was "Why are you interested in the FJ?" Take a guess...... |

José, Keith called me to tell me he saw you on TWT. You be famous. First BadWeB, then the cover of Fuell, now TWT, what's next, The O'Reilly Factor, the cover of Time magazine, the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit issue? |

Hate to toot my own horn, but did anyone catch American Thunder last week? I was on there for about 20 sec talking about S&S's new Shovelhead stuff. Don't worry, there are still only Buell's in my garage. Any Badweber's going to be on Two Wheel Tuesday next week? Maybe this will be some sort of record or something. Jeff |

I don't have Speed Channel! I'd have to pay $29.95 a month for the "Digital Sports Package". I like sports as much as the next guy but I already get three ESPNs (ESPN, ESPN II and ESPN Classic) plus Fox Sports Net (I can watch nearly every Twins game, whoo hoo! ). Why do I need umpteen more ESPN channels just to get Speed Channel? Why do I need ESPN Swahili (southern dialect)? I barely understand the northern Swahili dialect! |

Yeah Jeff, I remember that, cool! First BadWeB, then the cover of Fuell, now TWT.... I was also on a local DC hispanic newspaper talking about being a "latin biker" and on a local free motorcycle monthly talking about battletrax. Not that I'm keeping track or anything.... |

Dang JQ! You speak latin too? You sure provided some quality coverage. "I give it a thumbs up!" Classic. That was cool. I have it recorded on the DVR too. I must say, the helmet hair looked quite dashing too. Move over Dave Despain. We have José of BadWeB!
Jeff! Dude, don't be so shy! You gotta tell us about these nationally televised appearances ahead of time! Speed TV repeats its American Thunder episodes does it not? Let us know if/when yours will be back up for viewing. I'd like to see it. |

"latin biker" We latins have to stick together. Vive el Buell! Dang Blake, does that mean I have to learn Latin too? I have a hard enough time remembering Spanish and that is my first language! I liked that one! :-} |

That would be...The Peoples Republik of Kalifornication. You can't bust me on that one, I am from there and it is (er, perhaps was) a standard joke out there. Not to worry, I will move back there in a NY Minute once the real estate prices come back in line. |

Well José's comments aren't real popular in FJR-land Funny, but I've got 4800miles on mine and have the exact same issues re: heat and jerky under 20. This damn thing is *hot* |

I'm shocked that my comments are not popular! I have ridden enough bikes to know which bikes behave well at less than 20 mph and which do not. The FJ does not. Most shaft driven bikes do not. Fuel injection tuning also contributes to this. (Message edited by josé_quiñones on April 01, 2005) |

The heat thing, I mentioned that I was interested in finding out for myself because I had read that this was a problem with the bike. I believe I said (I have to watch it again) that it was not so bad. My Vrod is pretty hot too, so is the Buell, I'm from a very hot, humid climate so it's not like I'm not used to it. |

You really think it's a shaft thing? I thought it was more an issue with a touchy throttle. It tends to be better if you're in 2nd. My FJR feels at 70deg ambient the way the Buell did at about 80. At 75deg I'm seating if I'm not moving. In 55deg weather in stop-and-go the fan kicks on. This thing is damn hot. This summer I think the Blast is the commuter bike |

See...this is what I miss for being away from the site for a while. I checked out the Buell site and was all excited to see myself in the Adventure Recaps from the Running the Ridge Rally and once again...Jose has shot me out of the saddle. He is just a bigger ham than me...if that is possible! |

Johhnie Those shots kick ! It would be hard go gauge who the bigger ham is, we're pretty close to the top! Josh, Most of the shaft drive bikes I have ridden have some amount of slop in them, which is why I'm guessing it's related to the shaft. Then again, I could be wrong and it's mostly the fuel injection. But I only rode the bike for 30 mins so without further "research" I can not come to a definitive conclusion (Message edited by josé_quiñones on April 01, 2005) |

Who knows what was the background of the Two Wheel Tuesday rider? "He could have had a Vespa." TOO FUNNY! |
