My brother and I are going to go to Barber next month for the AMA races, hoping to see a few Buells in FX. Can anyone recommend some hotels or motels near Barber? I certainly don't need anything fancy. Also, does anyone have any ideas as far as theft prevention at the hotel or motel. I was thinking of just wheeling the bikes in the room.

First place I would check asap is 29 Dreams (www.29dreams.com). Even if you can't get a cabin there its close to the track and a fun place to visit.
Beyond that there are plenty of the usual chain motels and I can't speak for what rules they would have on placement of the bikes. There are several motels along highway 280 in the Inverness area of town from which it would be a straightforward ride to the track.

If nothing else its always a good idea to chain two bikes together for safety.

I plan to have my Buell there, but I won't be riding in the FX race. DOH! I'm too slow.

Track days ar Barber are fun.

Anyway, there's several hotels in the area. I'm sure most close to the track are already booked. One exit east of Barber has several chain hotels.

You'll probably do better if you stay in town. It's only about 15 miles.

Guesthouse is right out side of the gate, the prices were reasonable, I booked there for my CCS/FUSA races last August. When I cancelled ahead of time they charged me for a night anyway. They have nice areas to camp at the track, I went that route.
