nice, i was just watching the daytona race. the Mustang came in 1st and second position, bmw third. the mustangs just blew the foreign cars in the straight way. Ford Mustang kicked a$$. They said now you can even buy a racing mustang for 125k straight from the factory. so you can take it straight to the track. |

I wonder if Ol' Shel' gave his blessings on the name thingy on the back of the red one? The blue one looks like the one I had up until a few years ago. |

Ah...hate to break this news to the Camaro guys...GM quit making the Camaro/Firebird. They may have outperformed the Mustang in the stop light drags, but they didn't out sell them! Ford has nailed it with this new/retro 'Stang and I'm not so sure GM would want to get back in the pony car game any time soon. The GTO sales have been flat and they want to keep as much attention on the new Vette as possible (which is one damn sexy car I might add..). I wouldn't be surprised if they bring the Camaro back in the future. I just hope it doesn't come back in name alone, like the current Malibu and Impala...that would be a shame. |

the camaro is coming back as an '07.the reason they quit making them, and this is not heresay,i have an uncle that is up in the ranks at g.m.,them and the trans am were cutting into the corvette sales.why would you pay 40 grand for a car when you could spend about half as much and accomplish the same thing other than being able to say you have a 'vette.the new model is supposed to be EVIL.yes,i remember those days,we use to dine on pony and snake meat quite regularly. |

That's great, but the Mustang is still the original, the first, and the most popular. You could make a Geo Storm that would smoke a vette if you want, no problem. You can take any car out there and smoke any other car out there for enough money, and it doesn't prove anything. It's all about the soul of the car. The Mustang has a soul, and I think that if they ever tried to stop production on the Mustang, there'd be riots in the streets. When they stopped producton of the camerries, I don't remember much hoopla at all. Remember Bullit? What did Steve McQueen drive? Yeah... I can't imagine that movie being made with a camerry. I could imagine a remake being made with this new Mustang, for sure. It looks just like the '69 Mach I I owned a long time ago... Beautiful. But not a soulless camerry. Remember Bullit? What did Steve McQueen drive? Yeah, but the black Charger made a bigger impression on me! That was the best bad guy's car ever filmed. |

For what it's worth.. the first real 'Muscle Car' was the Pontiac GTO, then came the rest of the GM's.. Ford didn't really want to get into the HP wars at first.. it took them a while and by the time they did, Chrysler had unleashed the Hemis' and then the age died.. I must say that I like the styling of the new 'Stangs, and think the Shelby looks even better.. GM screwed up when they didn't think about how the new GTO should look.. Ford picked up on the fact that people want the total package. Sure the current GTO has more power under the hood.. But it doesn't look like a 'Goat' in an way manner of form.. IMHO the Mustang and now the new Shelby have the style, wonder if they'll have the bang for a reasonable buck? |

Ford didn't want to get into the HP war because they were more interested in road racing than drag racing. They did very well in both anyway... |

i beg to differ.the camaro has plenty of soul, and i take offense to your other remark avout"white trash".trust me i have owned SEVERAL,all of which are and always will be a superior car to the rustang in more ways than i care to count'and i am a longgggggg way from being "white trash".choose your words more carefully. |

I'm just stating my personal opinion, and I did choose my words carefully. And hey, rustang, "found on road dead", "driver returned on foot" - none of that stuff bothers me. I've got extremely thick skin, and it takes a lot to bother me. I'll edit the post and take out that comment. I don't want to cause problems. Everyone has their own preference, and I happen to dislike camaros. And that's why I had a Mustang, and will have another after my third deployment to Iraq. Not sure if it will be a brand new one or another '69, but it will be a Mustang. I have to say, the new ones look an awful like the '69's and '70's that I love so much... Glad they're still around. |

Sean...I agree with your feelings about Camaros. Z28's & all the rest were so over rated its not funny. Disco era poser cars is all they amount to. |

anybody care to put their money where their mouth is,i'll meet ya at any track any time.the mustang will always be inferior to the camaro.i will be glad to demonstrate that for you.took ford 12 years to try and get back on top.see how long it lasts, probably till about 2007.enjoy the short reign. |

Yeah, but the black Charger made a bigger impression on me! That was the best bad guy's car ever filmed. And ya have to love the way that Charger loses like 7 or 8 hubcaps during the chase...seriously watch it & try & count how many hubcaps that car loses |

The new Stang is an awesome looking car. It finally has the look that goes with the name again. Then again...... Just give me my old Nova back in the stable.....My 74 SS with that darn solid lifter LT1 under the hood. |

Check out what your average 1969 Camaro Z28, or Yenko, or COPO are selling for. I've seen a numbers matching '69 go for $55K. A 1969 Camaro has plenty of soul and character out the wazzoo. Give me the 'real' 302 and I'd be most happy :-) I'd have to say that the designers missed the boat from 73 thru mid 80's, but I remember some gosh awful 'Stangs then too. |
