Going to put some stripes on my wife's and my bikes. She's got a 2005 XB9R (yellow of course), and I have a black 2004 XB12S.
On my bike I was wondering if I should run the stripes right down the middle of the fly screen, airbox, and front fender, or offset on the fly screen and centered down the rest.
On her bike I plan on running it down the center of all the parts.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the sizes of the stripes? Like 2" with 1/4" gap and 1/4" strip down one side or both?
I've looked at all the pics I could find on Bad web.
thanx for any help or pics!

You mean Le-Mans stripes I assume...

I like the 1.5-2" stripes with 1/2 the width if the stripe in the center.

Daytona stripes would be about a 3" stripe w/ 1/8" stripes along both sides w/ about 1/8" in between...

I think a Rally stripe is what you would see on an old Mini Cooper.

Championship stripes are applied from the top center of the front wheel well at about a 45 degree angle backwards. On an XB they would be placed either on the front fender starting about 4" from the front or on the flyscreen however it looks right (I'd put them on the fender). Seems how Buell has never won a world championship though, it would be a little bit of sacrilege to apply them.

Whatever you do... DON'T paint it green : ).

Gus -- get ya some masking tape ( the blue 3M kind is great) in a variety of sizes, and try it out -- nuthin beats seeing close to the real thing in the flesh (or on the plastic, as the case may be)

I remember reading somewhere that the strip down the top of a car was to indicate where the driver was seated.

If so...

I say right down the center!!

Wow, didn't know there were that many different stripes out there. Masking tape what an awesome idea. I'll do that tonite!
"Whatever you do... DON'T paint it green" No problem there!
I'm still thinking down the center on hers and a little off kilter on mine.

Go get some masking tape. Blue is more expensive, but does not leave residue like the white. It's sold in several different widths.

Slap it on, and if you don't like it, re-do it. when you get "the one", mark it and make real stripes.

What's wrong with green?

No, really. Am I missing something?

It's more of a superstition. Anything race-track or performance oriented should not be panted green. It's bad luck. Just like you should always put the right glove on first, and never mount a motorcycle from the high side.

Examples...

Kawasaki
Jaguar

The new Ducati Monster S2R (a damn sexy eye-talian stallion I might add!!) has the stripe off center. I found some yellow with black stripe pics for ya. Hope this'll help.
