Still hearing hissing/coughing but now I am looking at the plugs. The bike had autolite 4164's in when I got it, but the book called for 4162 (the store didnt have them ), but they have been in and out, so I am suspecting the squash washed is not sealing. Plan on installing the new 4164's tomorrow with anti seize. Is this plug OK? Any other suggestions? ALso, it is still back firing on deceleration. I've tightened the muffler clamp, but someone suggested using the red rtv there, any tips on how to coat that flange? thanks, George

If plug is torqued down correctly you will have no problem re-using that washer over and over with no leaks. You can run some other brand than Autolite, just be sure to get the equivalent of the new cold plug--10R12,not the old 6R plug that caused the pinging.
Has the carb been rejetted, what exhaust??
