Does anyone know what time they air it? And which Buell riders are still intact enough to ride it?

Don't think Shawn Higbee will be riding...He lost up to the first knuckle on his little finger, left hand and fused the ring finger middle joint also..(See Roadracingworldnews.com)...The race starts at 11:00 am left coast,so 2:00 right coast on Saturday! Before that they will be showing Superbike and probably some Supersports and Superstock highlights.I think that is from 8:00 to 11:00.....check SPEED channel program listing in your time zone to be sure.

If you want to see alot of Buells race you have to go to a FUSA event. Hopefully Hals, Innovative, Higbee, Etc. will up for AMA Barber in April.
I suggest everyone root for Pascal Picotte who will be racing FX and 600ss. Unfornutely he will be on his Canadian spec 600 which will be down on power.

thanks
that would be cool, but i would still like to see a BUELL race with the other brands even if they don't win.

IIRC they didn't feel the motor would last for the 200mi race since they are built for 20 lap sprints that work out to 60-70 miles total. And I can't blame them for not wanting to build and test ONE motor for ONE race out of the season when everything else is a 20 lap sprint.

well i can blame them if that is their attitude.
what ever happened to winning or trying!
so you run the battles and not the war.
so you are telling me BUELL had a chance to maybe even win and then they whimped out. if they knew their engine could not compete and do 200 miles, why even do the interview in CW.
Its really sad if this is true.

First, it's not actually Buell, they're private teams. As such, they're teams with tight budgets so they need to do what makes financial sense and it doesn't make sense to blow a big chunck of your budget developing something for one race at the cost of the rest of the season.

UWgriz, that is fine if you think you are going to loose.
but if you think you have a chance ot even win then you dont have to worry about the money.
the sponsors will be giving you anythign you need.
everyone loves a winner, specially if it was the first american bike.
talk about marketing. even Rossi might decide to ride a BUELL.
he did say" i switched to yamaha a "lesser bike" to prove it was me and not the bike that won the races" bye bye Honda.

If it was only that easy to get the sponsors to give you everything you need to win races!! The winner of the 200 only receives $9000 as first prise. How much do you think it would cost for a one off XB engine specifically made for this one race? Not to mention the tires, pit crew lodging and meals, travel, etc..

I haven't seen too many sponsors lining up to give out checks to pay for that.

As for Rossi going to Yamaha. He didn't exactly give up everything since he doubled his paycheck by switching to Yamaha.

Had there been a sponsor available, I am positive there would be Buells racing in the Daytona 200. Anyone know of a company with a spare half million that would like to have their logo in AMA Formula Extreme on about three dealer sponsored bikes? I can hook them up with the teams.

Rossi is a racer before money, and guys like that would jump to the challenge. He has so much money that if he was challenged to ride a BUELL he would probably would as long as he knew the bike had a chance. What if Buell would offer Rossi to name the racing model under his name, he would do it, it would make him inmortal.
I would be the first in like to buy a BUELL Rossi bike.
dude if there was a race within 2 hours from me, i would volunteer my weekend to help those guys at the BUELL pit, i would sleep in a tent, pay my own food. so all you had to pay was the engine.
i would have even driven to daytona and used my vacation time to help in any way for the week.
I just want one for America.

Its a nice dream. As said above, you need a cool hal million to really be competetive in FX. I haven't seen any sponsors even getting close to that figure.

Do you REALLY believe Rossi switched to yamaha because he wanted to prove he could win on another bike and that money was not a factor? If you do I have some really nice beachfront property I want to sell you in El Paso, TX!!

Talk about putting your "reliability" skeptics to rest once and for all. We all know that the XB bikes are very reliable - so why not race just to show the world once and for all that the Buell can go the distance. If you ever get on any other race forums, every comment about about Buell is they will only make it 15 of the 68 laps or so. I don't believe that to be the case. How many DNF's did we have last year? Not many and I think one was an electrical gremlin and the other was a wreck. I still think that after all the recent publicity (CW, RRW, etc.) it was a big mistake for Hals not to at least show up and survive. If it was a funding issue - well shame on HD. I know most don't agree with this opinion, but i still do.

well shame on HD
Why? For any manufacturer to going racing, it has to make financial sense. I'm quite confident that there are people with a much better insight into what makes financial sense to Buell and HD than any of us here that are making these decisions.

Actually the Buells had quite a few DNFs in last years FX races. Do you really think it would make a good impression to have a buell out there going 4 seconds a lap slower than the other brands? I don't think just finsishing is a goal I would want to shoot for. Do you really think non Buell lovers are going to care of a Buell finsished 3 laps down to the winner? And at what cost to the team? Is it worth it to spend at least $30,000 for one race and get maybe $1000 back if you are lucky? I understand why so many of the Buell teams have stayed away from Daytona. Even the Superbike guys will tell you the goal is to survive daytona not win it. And they are playing for points.
