Just ordered a set of Pirelli Diablo's for my 12S. I'll be ready for new skins just before the Badness. Can't wait! Are there any issues I should be aware of when changing front, due to the perimeter rotor? Chances are, the shop that actually changes the tire will not have done one of these before. | ||

Not that I know of. Be very careful removing the wheel though. Make sure the bike is jacked up enough, and make sure you don't mar the powder coat with the caliper. Do you have a service manual? In case you don't... The hub slides under and behind the lower portion of the fork, then you can lift the wheel far enough to clear the caliper. rotate the lower fork outwards and then remove the wheel. No need to remove the caliper, but be careful. Also, make SURE the shop that does the work is VERY careful with the rim. The local Honda shop tore up my rear pretty bad and ended up buying me a new one. they told me they have a "good" machine for it, but the only time they didn't damage the rim in three swaps was when they wrapped duct tape around the edge of the rim. The first time, they told me they would swap the next set for free. The second time, no damage. The third time, they tore up the powder coat pretty bad and replaced my rim (but were assholes about it). I bought a set of moose tire tools and have swapped them by myself each time since. The tools paid for themselves the first time I used them... | ||

Just had Diablos mounted front and rear. Brought wheels to my local dealer and paid premium $, balance was my concern, dealer tells me that they cannot balance the front due to the size of the rotor. I thought I read somewhere that Buell issued/sold a special tool to the dealers for balancing the front.Anyone know anything about this? | ||

Never heard of it. The equipment used varies between dealers. I've done my own tires. All you need are a few rim protectors, a manual bead breaker, and a couple 9" tire levers. I cheated and dynamically balanced 'em at the dealership. Static balance works fine and is plenty accurate. I got my stuff through Parts Unlimited/Drag Specialties. | ||

There is no problem with the rotors. I had my Diablos mounted and balanced at Cycle Gear here in Atlanta. Top shelf work. Those guys are great. As far as I know they used nothing special. Rubberdown....I have just recently went to diablos and just ran the Twisties at TWO with Glitch, Shred, StealthXB and New12R last weekend. Awesome handeling. We will hit them again this weekend for some pre March Badness practice. Looking forward to meeting Ya'll. I'll have some beer iced down for ya'll on Friday.  | ||

Rubberdown, The diablos are hands down my favorite tire, The turn in is great, they stick like glue(even when the contact patch is minimal due to extreme lean angle), they will give you warning before they let go, and I have already got like 4,000 miles out of them and will get some more. The dumlops (208 gp's)I could only get about 2,500 miles out of them before they were toast and they gave no warning when they let go! | ||

Ueuh, I've called Pete but haven't heard back yet. Check the prices at Ronayers.com. Also Pirelli has a special where if you buy a rear, you get the front free (except for a $20 shipping fee). I bought a pair so I'll end up with a spare front. Considering the deal and the reputation of the tire, it seems to be the way to go. I'm running that trail marathon in the a.m.. I'll try to get up with you tomorrow evening (if I'm not crippled). Mike. | ||

I've had 3 sets of Metz M1, and 1 set of diablo's on my M2, the Metz definitely lasted about 500- 600 miles longer, and had a better feel and more confident handling than the diablo's. But that's old school Buell, I can't speak for XB's. I have banke full rearsets, and definitely use them. | ||

Make sure you clean or scrub off the mold release compound before you get too aggressive in the corners! I low sided mine on the very first turn on new M1s last fall. | ||

I put Diablos after the original Dunlops wore out just around 3000 miles. I am now just shy of 9K and the Diablos are still going strong. I have been commuting more than riding the canyons, but not really taking any easier than I did on the Dunlops. I would definitly invest in another pair. | ||

Love mine. Have another set ready to put on in the garage. You'll feel like your riding around on razorblades for the first few miles. The more aggressive arch compared to the stock Dunlops is really noticeable. After the adjustment period, I really prefer them. I did mine in my garage with the Harbor Freight changer and levers. Static balance, no problem... Wear has been better by about 2k mi for me over the Dunlops and I weigh 230 lbs. | ||

Love the Corsa's too. Had them on my previous bike (CBR600RR) and am planning on running them on the 9R as well. VERY predictable, fast warm up and SUPER sticky. | ||
