More than likely selling the Cyclone and taking the plunge and getting an SX and wanted to know the details.
I'm 5'11 220. The wife would kill me if I posted her details here but anyway she is a little thang.

Well Ken,
I'm about 6' 230lbs. I bought an XB9SX in December, I can tell ya right now, unless the passenger stays way the hell back you get kinda crowded with your boys smooshed up into the airbox.

One of my coworkers has a 15 y/o daughter who LOVES to ride. I've probably ridden about half of the 1000 miles I've put on my bike so far with her on the back.

That said she is maybe 5'5"? or so...REALLY skinny little kid, maybe 100-115lbs?!? Hard to say, anyway she has a tiny butt, which is good for her cause she actually fits on the back of the bike.

When she is on the back and I am in a comfy spot there is maybe 1-1.5" of the tip of the seat between her butt and the end of the seat.

She has no complaints about comfort-says she's fine, but I don't know if that is because she is just tough, or doesn't want to admit defeat as a teenager, or if she really is genuinely OK.

We usually ride round town, back roads, little bit of freeway time, etc. Typically 100-200 miles in an afternoon.

The one thing is that since the seat is kinda slanty (towards the rider), when I brake she inevitebly slides down into me pushing me into the airbox.

SOOooooo...it ain't no Ultra Classic Electra Glide, but it doable for scootin around here and there and having a good time. The bike handles the two of us with ease and is still loads of fun to ride!

Hope that helps!

Later,
Nick

Oh yeah-from what I've heard from other guys on here the XB*R is the better bike if you will be carrying a passenger a lot-just more room on it...

I sold my cyclone to get an XB9SX, and when I got it home took my wife for a ride. She's perfect, I'm fat. The one thing I thought I was loosing in the bike trade was passenger comfort.

She does not ride with me often, just around town, probably never for more then half an hour at a stretch.

Anyway, I was bracing myself for how much worse it was, and wondering if it would even be practical. To my suprise she said she didn't even really notice a difference between it and the Cyclone, she thought both were fine, which really suprised me.

Honestly, my wife won't go for more than 5 or 10 miles. She's 5'4 & 125 lbs. The pegs are high, the seat is hard & she can't see past me. When you hit the brakes, the family jewels get badly crunched. I got the streetfighter seat & it's marginally better than the stock one. I've never cared for riding 2 up anyway, so it really doesn't matter to me. If I was planning to tour 2 up I'd get a bike that was designed for it.

Traded my M2 for SX last fall. The M2 had a Buell custom seat. It had much more passenger space, lower pegs and better distance between the two riders. More comfortable overall, but the SX is a much better bike all around, and even more fun solo. I'd do it, if the rider complains and you ride together that much, it may be time for a second bike.

what's funny looking and uncomfortable is me @ 6'2" 200lbs BEHIND my wife @ 5'1" 110lbs on HER xb9sl. my literally rests on my calves almost hovering above the seat. if the pegs were lower all would be fine but they are way high.

I have the feeling that when you consider either frequent and/or lengthy two-up rides with your Sig O, you will understand why quite a few people on the BWB are always taunting Buell to make a Sport Touring bike.

We travel well on the Cyclone and we go on some pretty good rides. I was just concerned about the XB9SX. Thanks for the input so far everyone.

Your best bet is to take your intended passenger with you to the dealership and do some test sitting at the very least. If a bike passes the static sit-test then request a test ride. All the third party input in the world will not tell you as much as actually sitting on one with your intended passenger. Trust me on this one. ; )

I bought my wife a blast. It doesn't get ridden much, but it is way better than two up on any XB. Plus she gets to tell people she rides, and she thinks that is pretty cool.

I agree with Captain, let her ride by herself, you
both will enjoy riding a lot more.

She is not very good at riding by herself. She's had a couple of spills on my dirtbikes, I really don't want to put her on asphalt.
