"The speedometer was stopped at 136 mph"

Doesn't the 954 have an analog tach and a digital speedo? If so, and I don't know for certain, h
ow does a digital speedo stop at 136 mph?

You know, I forgot, silly me, two great starter bikes, the Blast and the 883.

I rode Ayden's wife's 883C. Probably the most butt flickable bike I have ever ridden. I could literally change lanes by just shaking my hips. I was impressed.

The Blast is not a wimpy bike...I had a hard time NOT riding past the slow pokes in Boone at Riding the Ridge last September so I know she can go. In some places, the "big bikes" had a hard time keeping up with me. But I didn't ride beyond my abilities although I was tempted to stretch. And I had a "blast"! My Sportster 1200 Custom is plenty bike for me. I'm tailgunner in my riding group and my job is to look out for the group. We sometimes break into two groups because of the newer (slower) riders and that's okay. The point is that, male or female, sometimes there's too much testosterone on the road. I want to live to ride another day.

The problem with those bikes is that they're considered "little" and "weak" by so many folks...

When I decided I wanted to ride, I took the Riders Edge class. The main instructor was a ex racer with 49 years of riding experience. He rode big HD bikes. He had nothing but good things to say about the Blasts we were riding. The other instructor rode an XB. He told me that my first bike should be something like a Blast. I listened to them and bought a Blast. It was only later that I could appreciate how lucky I was get advice like that.

This is always a tough decision for me, and it really depends on who I'm riding with.

Reminds me of a story...

I was at BRAG's Running-The-Ridge last year, and I was one of a group of four. The guy leading our group was named Brian Long, and I was really impressed by how good of a leader he was. We didn't ride very close to each other, the four of us were probably spread out over close to a quarter of a mile. But every time I would go through a turn and notice gravel in it, I would find Brian on the other side waiting to make sure everyone got through. And if we got too spread out he would pull over and let everyone catch up. It was nice riding with him, because you knew that he was looking out for you.

Jim!

I remember riding behind your group. And you know what? It was good discipline for me. You all set a comfortable pace and when I got a chance to break, I did. Remember those wide, sweeping turns? They were great! Will BRAG ever post the photos from that event???

LOL - I think thats a nice way of saying that I ride too slow.

Yes, the turns were great, I particularly liked the ones on 321 comming back into NC. I don't know when the pictures will show up on the BRAG website. I keep looking for them, but no luck so far. I have this fear that we have been forgotten.

Not at all, Jim. Everyone rides their own ride. Having a "pace car" in front of me is a good thing! It makes me appreciate the open road. I'm serious...think about it. Peter told me it usually takes BRAG six months to post pics. Haven't we been patient enough??? See you on the road...
