Okay the bike is 9 years old and while I was replacing the oil bag I figured I'd replace those old dried up oil lines too. The question is, do I really have to run that vent line under the starter ? Seems like I could figure out a better way to route it than that but that's what the manual says.

There is routing for ease of assembly sequences, and routing for ease of end user needs. I don't know if there is a reason for it needing to be routed as it was in stock form.
