Hey...I was hoping that some one could help me with some options that might be out there. I am looking to upgrade my 1999 Buell ST3 headlamp. I have looked around a bit and I have found somethings that might work. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the headlamp on their S3T and what they went with and why.

Some of the things I found were conversions to H4. According to on site, I would need to upgrade the wiring harness, of course I would need H4 bulbs and the lamp enclosure. Can the stock enclosure be used or will the heat of the H4 lamp melt the stock enclosure? Just curious.

I am just wondering what my options may be because lets just say the stock bulbs are not the best for me when driving at night.

I thought the 99 S3T took an H4 bulb? Anyway, just get the high-output PiAA that drops in from American Sportbike and you'll be set.
NeilS, DAve and I had our 99 S3s side-by-side with stock (DAve), no-name hi-output (me) and PiAA (NeilS) bulbs and the difference was amazing.

It should be a H4. Hi output "off road only" bulbs should be available at a local foreign auto parts store. 60/55 is stock high/low wattage. I've run 100/55 & 80/55's no problem. You don't usually run high beams long, and usually at speed, so there should not be a big heat issue.

A HID ( high intensity discharge ) setup is available, not cheap, maybe $300, ( first place I looked, shop around )
A PIAA H4 ( not HID ) is about $50, ( from same source, shop around ) in 100/110 & more.
