My last in-depth walkaround revealed play in the rear caliper. I could "twist" the caliper and move it. If I had to quantify it, I'd say it's about 2-3mm travel at the ends of the caliper, and it is movement that is not parallel to the guide pins. How much play is normal?

2-3mm doesn't sound that bad. I think the service manual has specs. Most people complain about the front getting loose and rattling around - thus the change in 01(?) to the new style.
