Working on the S1W revival project and hit a minor snag I wasn't expecting. I've got an X1 motor to base around, in decent shape, needs some TLC but nothing major. I've got the original* CV carb, and an original carb intake manifold.

* Or so I thought. Turns out the carb is a CV44, so it won't work with the original manifold. Looking at the EFI manifold, boy, it sure looks damn close to the right dimensions... has anyone tried stuffing the CV44 into the EFI manifold?

Poked at this a bit more, comparing the CV40 / S1W intake to the X1's and it looks like everything is right except the length of the carb/throttle body spigot. The X1 is setup for a throttle body that is shorter than a CV40/CV44 carb, so this potential quick hack is a non-starter.

I think when people swap to the Mikuni carb, it uses some kind of adapter plate to mate the carb to the manifold. Maybe you can make something similar? just grab a 1/4" or 1/2" piece of aluminum, shape it to match both, drill and tap some holes?
