Just curious. With all the custom dressers on the street with big inch engines, how much horsepower would a heavy dresser need, to have the same power to weight ratio of a Thunderstorm tuber? | ||

say a buell at 425lbs has 100hp at the crank. a full dresser can weigh 800lbs or more. so, i'd say anywhere over 185hp should do it for a dresser... | ||

i figured that out recently too. (my brother Dan owns a Street Glide with almost $45K into it) About 189hp was my calculation.  | ||

425 is light for an S2/tuber. Base S2 curb weight was published (wet/ready to ride) at 481; S2T with touring stuff, 515. The Ulysses has a published DRY weight of 425...but wet, it's closer to 490. And, it's aluminum - not chromoly steel. Regardless, you're nearly twice the weight, so you'd want twice the power and torque to have the same ratio (wet weight for a Street Glide is 842) | ||

So a cammed up big carb 124 inch dresser would be no threat........I like that. | ||

I would think that the weight of the rider would have to be included I such a calculation. So tuber plus 200lb rider is 700 lbs. Big Harley plus rider is 1000. I'd do the math on that for a drag race. | ||

A full dresser with tour pack and rider will be over 1000lbs. Factor in average amount packed on a full dresser VS an S2, and you have at least 400 more pounds being hauled on the big twin. Depending on the rider an S2 should beat a big twin most of the time. That said the Milwaukee 8 131ci crate engine puts out about 135tq and 125hp to the rear wheel. Not too shabby coming from HD. You can put that crate engine in a fxlrst(softtail chassis) weighing about 650lbs and you'd have a race on your hands. | ||
