It's coming along.

Got the Am.Sportbike sideplates on (and a real kickstand).
Got the stock muffler on.
Installed my S2-only Buell race ignition box
Got my heated clothing pigtail on.
Got my updated bag mounts on (added a brace to the passenger peg bolt, with a tab that adds a mounting pin to the bottom of the bag)
Got my operators tubes under the bags
Swapped all the lock cylinders with my old bike (his mismatched and were crusty as hell; mine I'd gotten a matched set of 6 years ago for one-key operation on everything)
Got my H4 conversion Hella headlight in, with HID bulb
Actually mounted (not velcro) the switch for the Motolights that came on the bike
Got my voltmeter in
Got my GPS mount on (old school Quest2 - I run 'em on all the bikes for basic routing and tracking)
Fresh battery
Swapped my old master cylinders to this bike - rear built no pressure at all, and didn't return; front built low pressure after a few pumps.
My old carb (42/185, 2.5 turns) with remote idle cable
Got my LED taillight in - Uly lighting board, with TIR-3 flashers on brake)
Got the aftermarket signals on (pictured above).

This weekend (after I do a halloween show Saturday) the plan is:
Replace the choke knob (broken threads at the bracket)
Swap out the stock rear shock for my Works shock off my old bike - the stocker works and doesn't leak, but it rubs against the muffler for some reason. Maybe I'll make sure spacers are all in the right place first...
Pull the fairing (again) and adjust the headlight (it's aimed a little low)
Swap my old front caliper on - lever is still a little low on the first grab or two (even after DAYS of gravity-bleeding), then it builds some pressure, but it'll still trap my fingers if I 2-finger the lever and I don't like that.

And I'm debating putting my greenie rear hugger on. Can't really see it with bags on...but I LOVE the look so much...but it's not "correct" for this '96...but I LOVE the look....

It's coming along!

>>>What are operators tubes?

They are Operators Manuel Tubes from agrisupply. They were initially made to house the Operators Manuel for tractors and other heavy equipment, but are perfect for storing a variety of things. Tools, Emergency Fuel Bottle, Whiskey, First Aid Kit, Etc. They measure 3.25" around and 12" long.

Agrisupply has four different sizes of round tubes. The large "new style" is 3.5" X 13". The old large is listed at 3.25" X 12".

Joe can measure his and give you exact dimensions.

Here is a link to agrisupply:

They also have a 12 1/8" X 4 1/2" tube. Search operators canister on the agrisupply site. They have a number of different options.

Looking at new bottles, I waved a tape measure near my tubes. They're "old" - right around 12" top to bottom, 3.5" diameter. Super useful, easy to mount, and at least as waterproof as a set of S2 saddlebags (which, admittely, ain't sayin' much!).

Good to know! Not sure if my S1 has enough spare space to store something like that but it looks convenient for sure. I just keep my tools in my backpack. I do have a spare fuel bottle that I'd love a place for, never wanted to mount it straight to the bike because it's bright red. Be nice if it was able to fit into one of those.

About the only place to mount one on an S1W would be under the taillight...or to one (or both, for visual balance) of the passenger peg subframes.

I have tubes on my Uly; I have 'em on my S2.

I have a tailbag on my CR.

My S1W...is naked. Save for a steering damper, that is. But, that's as much duty-cycle based as it is space-based - the S1W is my local, back-roads, hooligan bike, whereas the others have a stronger chance of a longer trip from time to time (and, regular use commuting, etc).

"Vehicles" versus "toy", I guess...

Done.

Finally.

Roy got a reprint of the title.
I added it to my insurance ($9 a year!) soon as I got it home.
Once I got the title, I went to motor vehicles and got historic tags, and MY title is on the way. It is now FULLY legal (not just driving around on my 1125's tag).

Repair-wise...
Front caliper is rebuilt with a new kit from PM (also rebuilt my spare caliper, off my old '95)
Headlight is replaced with a Hella H4 conversion unit, with an HID H4 lamp (from my old '95); ballasts mounted to top of headlight shell
Headlight shell and adjuster screws rebuilt/replaced (hit a pothole and one of the screws punched through the fiberglass shell),and reinforced with epoxy (out of sight)
Headlight properly adjusted for use, via multiple test-rides after dark with no fairing (why didn't they give access to the adjuster screws????)
Motolights wired to come on with high beams
Motolight override switch mounted to instrument panel (instead of just velcro)
Voltmeter installed
Motolight MR16 bulbs replaced with 800 lumen 8W 15 degree LED units
MASSIVELY oversized Gustaffson +6" windscreen removed, replaced with my old +2" from my '95. I'd have put a stock one on, but it was on my '05 when I hit the deer and is no longer serviceable. I'll get a stock one eventually.
Heated grips installed
Heated clothing outlet installed
Petcock replaced (leaking)
Carb replaced (easier than rebuilding the one that was on it, filled with junk) with the one off my old '95
Carb rejetted for bone-stock powertrain (45/185, 2.5 turns out)
Stock muffler installed
Original Buell race ignition module installed
Modified saddlebag rack from my '95 installed, adding bottom-of-bag fourth mounting pin to each bag (using additional bar on rack, that goes to passenger peg mounts)
Owners manual tubes installed under each bag
All six locks changed to matching set from my '95 (2 each bag; ignition; seat release)
LED taillight with flashing brakelight installed, from my '95
Four square, aftermarket turn signals installed
Reinforcement made for left rear signal, where fiberglass on tail section cracked and was coming loose
New battery, with new tender lead
Updated sideplates installed (from my '95), using stock tuber sidestand
Fluids changed
Controls adjusted

Bike has less than 8k miles on it still...I've put more than 500 on it since I got it, about a month ago. All OEM parts are stored away safely...and I'm still debating installing my '95's thunderstormed engine...but stock is nice...but it's great having an S2 again!!
