Got a 99 S3 and I need to coat the inside of the fuel tank hopefully to eliminate vapors from passing through and bubbling the paint. Seems like there is some sort of rubber lining on the underside of the top of the tank. What product should I use and what do you guys think would give me the best durability while sealing the tank? TIA

Never heard of such a thing on the Buell tanks, you would probably end up doing more harm than good attempting that.

There was no liner or coating inside the polymeric Buell tanks.

I agree with Blks1l - you'd probably do more harm than good.

1313 is spot on . . . .

As we learned on the 1987 Buells. . . . First you seal. . . Then you squeal.

I've just learned to think of my tank bubbles as 'character' haha. New ones pop up, I usually just poke a little hole with a pin and flatten it back down with my finger.

If you have super glue and a needle, that can help "adhere" them for a little bit as well...

Kreem tank liner, even on metal tanks carefully prepped per the instructions and with their etchant, can start to come off over time in tiny, carb and fuel injector killing chunks. Can't imagine it would be any better with our polymer tanks.

I do love that the real fix for blistered tank paint is to learn to appreciate blistered tank paint as a "character"

or pay $900 for a new aluminum gas tank, for a bike you only paid $3000 for...

I used Por-15 on an old steel tank that had rusted, and it was wonderful stuff, but I have no idea how well it'd adhere to the plastic tanks, and it's probably not worth trying to find out.

For some reason I haven't been getting notifications when you guys post. Thanks for the advice, I had a feeling there could be big problems and have procrastinated doing anything. Sounds like I'll just have to suck it up and embrace it.
