I may pick up a chin fairing form a 2002 X1 and was curious if it will fit on my 2002 M2? What mounting hardware would I need? Thinking it may be hard to come by- Could I get parts at local hardware store? Thanks in advance!

It will fit, but the hardware can be problematic. There's four standoff sort of spacers about an inch long or less. They all have two different diameters of about 1/2 inch long. It's two different sizes of pairs of spacers, I think one side is longer standoff. Getting those dimensions would be ideal, with that I'm sure they could be either found, or made by modifying something close to it. The other problem is there's a 2 or 3 inch bracket to hold the right front corner, it goes on the front shock bolt. There's two versions, one for the 'short' shock and one for the long shock. They're close but different enough to be problem. I don't remember how to tell which part number one goes with which length of shock. Maybe check Twin Cycles in the Netherlands, they may have a kit by now. I got a kit from American Sport Bike, but it's all bolted on right now. There's an old thread here referencing this problem: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/410980.html?1226956919

My brother did it on his '97 M2. It worked fine and he still has it mounted.
