Damn it, just got the S3T, has been starting and running fine. The last thing I did was I noticed the headlight was cockeyed so I straightened it a bit. Did I mess up wires by the ignition switch? All wires by clutch and kickstand switch look good. The odometer is on though

The turn signals work, horn works, taillight works. Did I disturb something behind the headlight in the headlight/ignition circuit?

Round/Tubular key right?

~ Check the starter relay and connections.
~ Short together the two side-stand switch wires, at the connector. It may be bad. (All mine are shorted together at the connector.)
~ Try starting in neutral. If that works, the clutch or neutral switch are bad.

~ Three wire connector for ignition switch, directly behind the headlight. So, yes you could have disturbed it, or the switch/switch wires just went bad. They do. I have replaced two on my S3s so far.

~ Harley-Davidson replacement is $150.00+, but at least you get the same key code as your current fork lock and bags.
~ After market replacement is $28.00 at JP Cycles.

~ Use a multimeter to test. Recall connections are:
RED - From battery.
Red/White - Off/lights on.
Red/Black - Lights & Ignition on.

~ When the key is turned all the way clockwise, all three terminals are connected together.

~ Reassemble connectors, after cleaning with electrical contact cleaner, coating with White Lithium Grease.

It was the switch. After pulling off the bodywork and cleaning up the grounds, checking switches I went back to the front of the bike and took my screwdriver, laid it across all the male terminals in the connector and all was powered up. Now who has a spare barrel switch with the flat connector? And some of those plastic headlight adjusters? I mangled the plastic of the kickstand switch when trying to get it out for testing. It's jammed under the oil tank, is that where it should be?

~ D'oh! 71441-94 - Ignition Switch is for a flat key!!! Apologies.

~ Very small chance, likely years, that connector could put a hole in the oil tank. Peronaly I would move it.

~ I bought a replacement ignition switch and soldered the old flat connector wires to it. Can you solder?

Thanks, I will try to move that connector for the kickstand switch. Having a hard time moving it. I think I will do what you suggest. I'm decent at soldering, but have a electronics guy in the neighborhood that can do it for me.

Well, I was able to move the connector a bit and it is falling apart. Can I tie this off somewhere higher? Looks like it goes right into a harness but can't get to it.
