Best thing I can think to do with the rear fender is to chop the belt deflector some /shortn and reattach that.

I found a 99 tank cover on the side of the road so all the plastic is going to get paint except the air box and scoop. I am having a hard time wanting to paint those.

I wouldn't paint the rear fender personally.

You found a 99 X1 tank cover on the side of the road though? What are the odds of that, lol.

I know pro paint intimately. With the right prep and flexible urethane primer/ great paint it shouldn't rattle off. After getting things polished and painted it won't be high show quality but will look great.

I dont know what else I hope to find on the side of the road? A XBSS or Uly would be cool.

I put in some Bosch Fuel injectors from the A foundry. Cold start without the air box on is very hard. Can't remember a start so hard but box is off. hot start is easy. I hope those work out in spring.

Oh yeah I trust that you can make it work paint-wise. I just feel that color on that piece of the bike is not needed, but I'm a total luddite when it comes to messing with Buell aesthetics, so just ignore whatever I have to say when it comes to that.

What color is the bike and what are you planning to do with it (and the fender)?

Its going Black. I think you will still approve. The scoop and intake are like new so I think they stay stock.

The first time I saw real carbon was on a New S1 Demo at the HD shop. They knew me so they let me steal it for a couple hours. Still can't justify a carbon.... going to shine

Ah I see! In that case, definitely.

FWIW, I had my carbon fiber rear fender painted gloss black (cheapo, CF/fiberglass, not the 100% CF). A year later and it’s still perfect, short of one spot on the edge that does flex. Very, very minor and not chipping, looks more like a little rubbing.
