I'm replacing the front motor mount on my 95' S2. The frame from what I see is unnotched. The instructions given in the box from twin motorcycles say this mount is mounted from the bottom, so the metal part of the mount is under the frame. The stock one I took out sat on top of the frame. Mounting from the bottom just doesn't seem right. Is this correct?

It’s been a few years since I did this to my S2 and I have since sold it so I can’t check. Seems like I put it on the bottom.

From the factory they came mounted on top of the frame. With the last rev of the motor mount Buell changed a little and it has to bolt in from the bottom.

What I would do is send them a picture of all your parts (washers and such) laid out in the order you're planning to install them and have Twin confirm whether that's correct or not. It's easy to get wrong. At least, I went with their mount when restoring my S1 and got it wrong on the first try resulting in a play that was noticeable when driving the bike.

If I recall correctly I did mount from the bottom on both attempts.

The mounts on both my 1995 S2 and 1996 S2T have never been changed and mount from above

From Martin of twin motorcycles - "indeed for un notched frames, Buell advised to mount the new engine mount from below,
as there is a change the flat side of the engine mount will hit the frame tube with engine movement'

Great, now I need to check mine. LOL.

But thanks for the clarification on that. I know I had to take pause when I was installing my new mount.

LOL! Yeah just doesn't seem right, but that's what I did. Was a bitch squeezing it in. Test ride done. A bit smoother

And it looks like I installed mine from the top. If I remember, the directions werent clear about what side to mount it from, so I just followed the service book and the how the old one was oriented.

I did purchase the revised mount from Twin motorcycles so I will follow Martins instructions as you posted. It does seem to fit OK being mounted from the top on my 97 S1.

I plan on pulling my frame in the near future to get it powdercoated back to a stock color, so I will resolve that at that time.

Its a black/grey hammertone/vein powdercoat. The shop did a nice job applying the finish, but I dont care for the look.
