I’m rebuilding the bike and these forks are definitely shot. I’ve been looking around for awhile for another set and now I’m curious if I should do a rebuild on them or purchase new/used ones? I’m planning on powdercoating anyways so rebuild might be the reasonable option. If so what rebuild kit should I be looking for. Thanks!

I did mine two years ago when I restored my S1 and remember that it wasn't easy finding parts. The seals were no problem, but the bushings weren't available (at Twin Motorcycles anyway, maybe someone in the states still has 'em). Mine were serviceable still, but if yours are in need of replacement, you might want to consider other options.

I did mine when I got my bike back in 2016 and it was the same story, bushings were non existent but it wasn't hard to find seals. The Buell seals were still around, but I ended up finding them way cheaper since KTM used the same forks. I just pulled the seals out and measured them and found seals online with the same dimensions.

I think Twin motorcycles is now offering a replacement for the one set of the bushings. I remember seeing some guy in Germany offering complete rebuild kits, but hellifican remember his name.

When I rebuilt mine last year, the bushings and seals were NLA. I think I bought my seals from Racetech.

Newish Buell owner here--'99 Cyclone M2. Are parts also an issue for these models with the standard "non-USD" forks? Wondered if they were more of a stock HD part...

That is a Showa fork. The ones we are referring to are the WP fork.

That said, parts are an issue for all Buells. If you need the parts and they are available, I'd recommend buying them now before they dry up. The M2 fork parts are still relatively cheap and available at St Paul. You could buy pretty much all the parts to rebuild both forks for the price of one bushing of the WP.

Are they the same as stock HD fork? Maybe? They may even be the same as some Kawasaki, Honda, etc motorcycles. But which make, model and year?

Thanks guys! Looks like I’ll be buying forks instead of rebuilding.

Before you pull the trigger, you could inquire after this:

"I think Twin motorcycles is now offering a replacement for the one set of the bushings."
