On a 97 S1, any reason not to relocate the VR to the front of the engine like a late model M2 or X1?

I bought the plate to relocate mine when I bought the updated front exhaust mount, but haven't gotten around to moving it yet. No reason not to, the only thing I don't know for sure is if the wires are long enough to easily relocate it, or if you're going to have to extend the wires and/or unwrap a bit of the wiring harness to get it there.

My thought was that it would clean up that section of the bike. I have an Antigravity battery for the bike, that will fit either the the stock style setup or the revised version.

Since the motor is in the process of going back into the bike, and I have a new regulator and stator, the wiring is still new and flexible, so rerouting the wiring shouldnt be that much of an issue.

Unless someone can think of a reason not to. I'd imagine it should be fine as the factory did it on the later bikes?

Would get more air up front. These suckers are 50 year old technology and constantly run hot.

So there is more than enough wire length from the stator to easily reach the regulator if relocated to the front. The only real mod to the wiring is running a positive cable from the circuit breaker under the seat over to the front of the bike. I didn’t really care for that idea and felt the long positive wire running along the engine was a short circuit/fire risk.

But the factory did it on the later models and I’ve never heard of an issue, so maybe I’m just overthinking it.

I decided to stick to the configuration for now, maybe after I get it running, if it bugs me enough, I’ll revisit it.
