So I noticed the power going off and on. Discovered a broken wire. Luckily I had a spare. Do I need the rubber weather cap on it? If so how do I release the pins slip it on?

I think the cap would be preferred, but you'll probably save yourself some work if you just buy a new piece of heat shrink tubing so you can just slide it over without disconnecting anything. Doubt you'll find a piece that big at home depot/lowes but you can get a piece on ebay no problem.
