Is it possible to mount the voltage regulator on the side of an x1 next to the battery like the S1.

Yes, just have to make a mount and shorten or tie up the excess wires. I assume they swapped from the side mounted voltage regulator to the front mount for better air flow and/or less heat next to your leg, why would you want to anyways?

Just preferred the look better and how it hides the battery a little. Figured there was a bracket I could switch over onto the X1 but I can only find the X1 bracket. Made me wonder how it was even mounted on the s1 in the first place. I'll just drill it right into the side of the battery. Haha just kidding

If you don't want to weld a tab on the battery tray you could probably just bend some thick sheet metal at a 90 degree, mount the voltage regulator to that and then sandwhich the other side of the sheetmetal under the battery. Here's a link to the thread that shows what S1OWNER did when he customized his S1 with an X1 frame, you could zoom through the pics and if I recall correctly I believe thats what he did.

It's been a little while since I've messed with it, but in pretty sure the S1 regulator mount just bolts on to the battery tray. Their batteries were originally mounted a different way, so the updated mount just attaches on there. You could definitely make something out of sheet metal and put it on there.
