Just installed on my keyless cap from a 2000 M2. Needed to file a few spots on my gas cap to avoid some rubbing issues but other than that it's a hell of a piece. Thanks for still making these Marc!

The 1st gas cap fix failed, so I finally got around to install Marc's. Questions, I don't see any washer below or above the spring in a stock cap, is that correct? I used the washer from the old fix on the new one, does the wider size matter?

Bsanorton, just curious what failed with the first style fix, I bought several, years ago, but have never installed them.

Maybe I didn't grind down the plastic area that expands enough. When I turned the tab counter clockwise to take off the cap it was hard to turn and it wasn't, then it came very loose and I guess the nut and washer fell down. Could be the way I installed it? The new setup seems so much smoother....

Where do I go to buy one of these fixes? I just got my first tuber and I was warned not to close the cap until fixed.

Were you warned by the seller that it gets stuck, or just a random comment from someone else? Definitely get the gas cap fix, they're absolutely worth the money, but hopefully nobody scared you away from riding your bike until you get one. Just give yours a good inspection to make sure the top edge of the plastic isn't swollen/deformed that there's a chance it'll catch on the bottom of the metal ring(just take a file to it if it is), and that the very bottom of the plastic part isn't starting to get stripped/warped where the locknut threads on, which will keep the cap from turning with the bolt when you need it to. If it looks like it's in decent shape, it should last you fine until the new part gets to you.

Worst case, just carry an appropriate size allen wrench until the new one arrives. Depending on your vent valve, you could be able to remove the assembly to fuel up if in a pinch... at least until the Purpony part arrives. Marc is a solid guy-buy with confidence.

I'm picking up a Blast cap at my local H-D dealer this morning and I have found the website for Mark's parts so I can get them ordered.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Is there something wrong with your cap(aside from the sticking plastic part) that you're replacing the whole thing with a blast cap?

I ordered the Blast cap before I found the repair kit. And I'd just as soon put my engraved limited edition cap aside and not leave it on top of some gas pump somewhere.

The cap on my 98 S3T just started to stick.

Thanks to your post I was able to order this replacement for the rubber piece and installed it in 20 minutes.

No more worries!

Thank You
