Hey All,
I rescued an old X1 over the weekend, and need some parts & advice.
It has been a long time since i have messed with a tuber.

This thing has about every aftermarket bit made,
from the 530-Chain conversion to Crossroads clip-ons,
but has been very neglected.

I am in the process of stripping it down
to do a thorough cleaning and inspection.

Backstory was that it was taken to a Harley dealer some time ago for service,
who replaced the TPS, and some other parts, and it hasn't run since.

Previous Owners added a bunch of neon tubes and strobe lights,
and the wiring was worse than anything i have ever seen.
The battery was also shot, so i didnt even bother ECMspying it prior to disassembly.

When i pulled the intake, i noticed that the throttle plate was about 25% open,
with a 3/4" gap between the adjuster screw and the throttle tab,
so i am guessing they put the wrong TPS in, or didnt clock it properly.
I seem to recall something about the tabs in the replacement TPS not lining up properly.

The American Sport Bike Carbon undertail has been drilled/cut like swiss cheese for all of the neons and wires,
so it is basically junk.

So far, the parts list isnt bad:
Need:
Chin fairing,
Set of Rider Pegs,
Undertail (partial trade for a CF paperweight ?)

It also has a Crossroads Clip-on Kit, with a broken left bar.
If anyone needs the center piece or a right hand bar,
these wont be going back on.

Appreciate any help or tips.

Great looking bike! sucks it hasn't been run, but hopefully you got a good price on it. Some nice shiny stuff on there.

Wow. What dealership "helped out" with that TPS install?

So, the bike is back together and runs like a champ.
Was able to pick up a couple needed bits to finish it out.
The rear shock is leaking and has become a pogo.
Searched through what i could, but cant find much info.
Anyone have solid info on rebuilding these or am i stuck saving for a $$$ shock?

Not sure there's a reliable source for rebuilding the stock shocks, but I could be wrong. Anything aftermarket (Penske, Twin, or - if you can find one - a Works) can be rebuilt. Penske is nice but overkill for street use; Works is nice, but they've stopped production. Twin has picked up their slack but they're UK based.

Can always take the VIN to a HD dealer and see if the shock recall was ever performed. If not...they're required to honor it. Worth a shot.

The stock rear shock can be re-build its time consuming. I did a writeup in the KV years ago.
