How many OB buellers do we have left here on Badweb. What does it take to be OB? Were you a BRAG member, do you remember Tat owned American Sport Bike, SACBORG, maybe Hellbuellies. Tell us your OB stories

I was a bit late to the party but was a bit of a BRAGgart in my day.
From 2003 - 2015 it was nothing but Buells.

I worked at Schoch's Buell for many years which I enjoyed and then spent 2 years at Lancaster H-D which I did not enjoy all that much.

I would say the high point of my Buell days was the day Erik went to Liberty H-D/Buell and we had that big group ride.
I get to the first corner and see an S3 saddlebag spinning around in the road as the leader of the pack overshot the corner and went into the weeds...
That whole day was just an awful lot of fun even if I was half frozen from the ride in.

Another real good time was having Gary Valine as my instructor up in Milwaukee. He was just such a nice guy and smart as can be. How he survived smoking in that room up there at the H-D factory is beyond me!
Of course I had to ask him where the Gary Scott display was, ha, ha.

When the XBs first came out it was so much fun with all of the innovative thinking and the XB sales seminar was a good time; they came around with a fleet of them and we all rode around and then parked in a sea of cooling fans whizzing away.

The day I did a marathon round trip to Detroit to buy the Purple Nurple (Parkway Blue S2) was a good one and the time when I discovered that an X1W with the race kit on it will loft the front end in 3rd gear if you nail the throttle was good, too!

What Erik did was to put the fun back into motorcycling for me. I just couldn't wait to get out there and hit the back roads in the Poconos on them.

They were real good times and the Mighty Useless keeps them going.

Bought my S2 in August of ‘94, I’ve still got it. It’s featured in two of Tat’s catalogs wearing different paint. I’ve got 12 more now. Haven’t owned any other brand since ‘94 and don’t plan too.

I've been into Buells since August 1997 when I bought my first S2, new off the showroom floor. It has been a love affair ever since.
Joined BRAG around 2001, I think. Enjoyed many of the rides, and meeting other riders, all around the country.
Still have an S2, M2, and an XB9, along with a couple of other bikes.
There will always be a Buell in my garage.

Bought my first Buell (99S3T) new off the showroom floor in El Paso, TX. Then I got a 2000 X1, then a 96 S2, etc, etc!!!

Attended homecoming in 2000 where i met a lot of the original Buellers to include Court and it is where i first met Aaron Wilson who i would later, in 2005, partner with in NRHS and the rest of that history!!

Bought my first ever motorcycle in 2006, Ulysses.

Spent every waking moment on Badweb (racked up over 21,000 posts). Became a Moderator.

Spent the better part of 2009 and 2010 selling Buells for Tom Bumpus.

Still devoted to Buells to this day.

Bought my first Buell in 96 an S1, still have it although I ride my 2 S2`s more now than the S1,it has 58,000 miles on it, one S2 has just over 100,000 and the other just under that number. Went to the 25th Buell anniversary and met many of you there as well as going to a few of the S2 rallies. The one in the Ozarks was especially fun with all of the curvy roads and nice cabins, need to go back down there sometime.

I wouldn't say "OB". I bought my S1W in June of 1998, had it for two years and sold it to fund my sons racing program.

Got bit by the Buell bug again in 2008, after we hung up our racing spurs.

Photo Circa 1998-1999, can't be sure...

I know the feeling, I started with 1, left the garage door open and 2 others showed up plus a sportster with a sidecar. not a bad problem to have.

I rode my first buell in 03 when i borrowed my buddys s1w. Loved it but wasnt in a position to get one.
Fast forward to '16. My son asked if id co-sign on a motorcycle for him. I did and when he told me it was a buell, the wheels started turning. So i sold the dirtbike and found my 00x1. Then a 96s1,then an s1w. Sold the x1 to my son and a few months later bought his m2.
My plan is to fix up the m2 and give it back to him. Ive had the pleasure of riding with my father as well as my son. Its a very good feeling.
That is all.

Test rode an M2 in 2000 and loved it, so when a good deal on an M2L came along in november of 2001 I jumped for it. Rode the wheels off it until the 7 year extended warranty expired, had a lot of fun upsetting the purists at BMW rallies. Bought a new bike in 2009 so I rode the M2L to my winter home in Florida and put a couple thousand miles a year on it there. Took another BMW airhead with a sidecar to Florida last year, so I brought the M2L back to Minnesota. Doesn't get ridden much 'cause I've got four other bikes here, but still puts a smile on my face.

I am not an "OB" in the scope of this thread. However, I am an "OB" at heart. I loved Buell motorcycles from the first time I laid eyes on one. I distinctly remember that day. I was visiting my brother at UW Milwaukee where he was attending college. I saw a RR1000 battle twin driving around near UWM and I was instantly in love.

Fast forward a decade, when I got old enough to ride. I remember doing demo days at UKE's at the old kenosha location. This was probably 1994 and I test drove a blue S2 with my brothers. I was 21 years old, and I immediately fell in love again! I remember the ride was escorted by the kenosha county sheriff deputies, who were also on Buell motorcycles. I also remember easily getting the bike up to 120 MPH on HWY 142, escorted by cops. I knew I had to have one, but there was no way I could afford one at 21 years old- I believe they were around $15,000 new at the time.

Now I am an adult- age 46. I finally have the means to afford a few toys. Over the past 20 years, I have bought and sold over 30 bikes- everything from Triumphs to Kawasakis to two strokes to custom cafe racers. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is as satisfying as the buell motorcycles that I have recently acquired. It only took me a couple decades to finally get them!

While I don't own that original blue 1994 S2 that I fell in love with on that Uke's demo ride- I do own a low mile 1998 S3 in the same color. I also was able to recently pry the 1998 Buell S1W out of my brother-in-laws hands that he has owned for 15 years.

Now I am content. (well, not really. I will be content when I also own an XB series, an 1125R and an S2 for good measure).

Bought my 2000 x1 in 2002, was a member of BRAG and went to a couple of the meet up's. The MD/VA/WV Application trip was the most fun for me. Joined here in 2003. Sadly it's time for me to let my hot rod go to a smaller/younger rider as I feel like an elephant on a moped on it. : (

Bought my S-2 in 95, kept it for 13 years. Have had 3 S-2's, 2 S-3's, 3 S-1's and an 1125. And Buell is what got me started in Landspeed Racing when I went to help out Team Elves at Bonneville. Raced the S-2 there for years.
Still running every landspeed event I can!

The early BRAG events were nothing short of epic!! American Sportbike Festivals at Willow Springs, the All California ride-----

Badweb browser since about 98. Found my first S1 on badweb and met some great folks. Scott, Jmartz, Buellish, later met Glitch in Atlanta. Court called to welcome me to the Buell world, and he had left Buell years before. That impressed me. Bought the S1 on a Sunday, on Monday was traveling to Asia and walked on a plane passing a thin guy with Harley T-shirt and boots. “Is your name Aaron?” Yep. Had a BRAG club in Kansas City. Bunch of fun there and we got 3 Buell together a few weeks ago. Had lunch with The Queen Of The World: Pammy, when she rode the yellow Monster of an X1. So many badweb characters of the past have left a mark on my brain it gives me chuckles to think of them. My burning question is this..... has anyone ever seen this Blake?

Fell in lust with Buells around '95 in Anchorage. Drawn over to BadWeb from the XL Forum in '97-'98 when I had my XR1000.

I ordered my '99S3 "Nuked Demon" during the St Louis IMS from Widman's HD-Buell. (Not a boutique dealership at the time) My S3 got caught up in the '99 recalls & finally got it in June.

Lots of good riding with the SLAB & KCMob. The '99 Homecoming was very memorable as was Torquefest.

Bought my '99 in October of '98 in Melbourne, FL. Joined BRAG that year, rode with Erik at Daytona and got close enough to the head of the line that I'm in the picture of the ride on the cover of the BRAG magazine that month.

Fun days. Weighed 105 lbs at the time due to chemo for Hep C. Am fifty pounds heavier now, but haven't had a positive virus test in any year that starts with a 2.

Sold the bike, bought it back, put a 1250 kit and a Mikuni flat-side on it, and she's going strong at twenty years old.

Yes. Our first Buell a '99 X1 in February '99 was initially going to be a '98 S1W. We later got our red '05 XB12r for Valentines' day (her's). We still have them but are seriously considering selling the X1 to reassemble our 996. The Buells' have been great fun.

I’m not but I remember very well traveling o the Harley dealership many time with my best friend to look at Buells.
In ‘99 he pulled the trigger on a back S3T with polished PM wheels. If I remember correctly, he paid a little over $13,000.

I remember him telling me about Court posting in here. For the longest time, when he mentioned this site, I thought it was for people who rode in bad weather, because he and I would ride in almost any weather back then.

He sold the bike a few years ago for about $2.5k I think. : (

Yellow is such a very good color for the X1. I'd be hesitant to sell it, that's for sure.

1980s club racing Kawasaki's and dreamed of owning an American sport bike, which did not exist at the time. Saw the RS1200 in Aug 1989 Motorcyclist Magazine and fell in love. Wanted one ever since, but as a married enlisted US Navy submariner, could not afford it.
Flash forward to 1997 with an "Exit Only visa" from Saudi Arabia and a pre-ordered White Gold S3 with matching saddle bags. Rode "Boo" from Las Angeles to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin in early winter of that year.

Hooked! Since then I have owned a peak total of six Buells at one time.
Oh! and finally found, here on BadWeb, my love, a 1989 RS1200, which I still ride, on occasion. What a wonderful and unique ride. I feel blessed.
What did we get for my new rider wife? Well, the most beautiful White Gold, 1997 S3 trike conversion with a Frankenstein rear end. Seriously, everyone notices and loves that trike. Even with me on the RS1200, all are watching her on that trike. A trike which is stable and still capable of running at 130 MPH, but we do keep it under 80 MPH.
My daughter now owns "Boo", my first 1997 S3.
Wishing Eric and EBR had built a sport touring model, but alas they did not.

Bought a '97 S3T after seeing them in magazines and high speed test ride at Daytona bike week. Only source of info was Battle2Win magazine. Before the internet you just rode the crap out of your bikes, changed the oil and didn't lose sleep over what kind of oil or tires to use. Got into the new Triumphs for awhile, traded it in, then found a low mile S3.It's a garage queen, I ride enough to keep it healthy. Last fall I bought a 99 X1 blue stripe, excellent condition. I may bring that down to the Daytona home I just bought, but I don't know if I wan't to make a sacrifice to the God of Salt Air down here.PM wheels don't like the beach.Maybe I'll just buy some shit box Harley so the locals will talk to me!
