Looking for a used replacement S2 header pipe and saw some EBay auctions that say the S3 pipe is the same. Is this a fact?

1995 to 1998 all models S type header over the frame will work.Stock S2 header is S bend over the frame 2" pointing rear to muffler. Race is the same but 2 1/2" to muffler.1998 is S bend with I/4 bend to rear 2 1/2" to muffler.1997 is S bend over frame 2" front outlet with 1/4 bend 2" to muffler. So 4 headers will work that are S bend.

This is S bend race header

The stock S2 header is unique and so is the S2 muffler. S2 headers/mufflers are not interchangeable with other Buell models. As Ebutch stated, thre are several headers that will fit on an S2, but if you're using the stock S2 muffler, you'll need a stock S2 header.

I run a 98 S3 header on my S2. It has a 90 degree adapter pipe from a super trapp and then a race can. All fits fine, but the original tilted air cleaner can not be used

Thanks for the info guys. It looks like I will either have to get my pipe repaired or buy a S2 header pipe if I want to use my stock pipe and retain my air filter.

As Lynrd stated: The S3/S1 header will fit the S2, but it won't clear the stock angled S2 air cleaner.

The Factory Race Pipe headers will clear the S2 a/c.

Just an FYI.
