Is this chip significant damage to the head??? Will it be an issue for me??

That will have to be repaired and refaced, that’s the front motor mount bolt point, it’s critical that the repair be done correctly.

Thats why I want to know did it happen while on the bike?
The mount surface and the head surface need to be machined so they are parallel or it will cause a rocking motion and due rven more damage.
These mount points break usually because either the mount surfaces are not parallel or the isos are worn and bad

you have to remove the broken bolt and have the edge welded up and machined flat again.

The picture looks like it's from a bike salvage company.

It’s a thunderstorm head on eBay that came off of an x1 being parted out. I’m trying to do the conversion on my s1. Looks like I won’t be bothering with this one. Thanks for the input guys.

Check with phelan or purpony they may have a set. Or just order something from nhrs

No one besides St. Paul seems to sell the thunderstorm heads. I have a rear head just need the front. Then I’m going to look into the 1250 bore kit. Nhrs sells one but I’m curious what my best route is on that. Any input guys?

Lance at st paul hd is a good guy and supporter.
I have an nhrs 1250 kit in my bike and it is top knotch and they have excellent customer service
