Does anyone have experience with Ohlins shock?

I'll assume that's a generic picture and isn't what the actual mounting holes look like? That one end is way too wide to fit into the front shock mount or the swingarm.

If you plan to order it, double check with them on the mounts to make sure you get something that's going to fit on your bike.

Yes I know rear mount looks too wide for tuber. I guess actual product will fit.
My question is about its ride quality. I am quite disappointed with Works shock, probably because of its little damping, typical for '90 shock, resulting in wallowy ride at high speed turn.
I heard Penske is superb but somehow I don't like its look.

I just got a Twin shock and it's great! Preload can be set for 130 to 400 pounds of rider load, damping adjustable with a dial. No wallowing, never bottoms out.

$642 with shipping from NL

I think they look more like this than the stock image in the auction. I would buy one before I put that much in a Penske. Brand recognition is better and they have a great rep for OEM performance suspension. I was reading about them on here a few weeks ago. General consensus was that it was a quality product with good performance.

Love both my Penske shocks. Great ride, smooth and no bottoming. Have had two on two separate S3s for about 20 years now. Yes, expensive, but worth the money. They do ride better than the aftermarket Works shocks. Works shocks are good and much better than stock.

Ohlins for sale on ebay is for X1, will it fit S2 and perform good?
I guess shock length is the same for both bikes and weight does not differ much. I don't see why it wouldn't fit and perform about the same on both bikes...

It'll fit, you'll just have to make sure you have the correct front mounting bracket. I assume your S2 has the bracket for a 16" shock. If that one is for an X1 it's likely a 14" shock. After spending that much on a shock, what's another $50 for another bracket though?

Set your Works up properly. I've had one on my S2 for years and love it. Maybe time for a rebuild?

I know my Works shock now needs stiffer spring as I weigh ~20 lb more. But what I know is that Works shock's damping is too little. Stiffer spring may worth changing but revalving will be very expensive(~$1000, international shipping and import tax included). I will just keep it for later use and buy a better one.

If the damping is too little it may just need a rebuild/recharge...

Works shock is typical '90 design which suffers from weak damping. Rebuild won't fix it, revalving will. Anyway it is too expensive for me.

Upthemaiden, I have both front mounts. Thanks for reminder.

Ohlins shock is famous for its superb performamce and top quality but this one is entry product. That is why I want to listen to someone's opinion who has this shock.
