I know this horse has been dead and beaten a dozen times, but I have to ask. My wife bought me a set of rear isolators for my 96 S2 for my birthday. They are aftermarket parts in white boxes with a part number of 47564-86B on the box. Are these the correct rear mounts for the S2 and are they any good? I replaced the front one 2 seasons ago and thought I should also replace the rear ones, so I mentioned it and presto, they showed up……… |

My parts book lists it as 47564-86. Not sure what the "B" is... Your wife sounds like a keeper! |

When I google it, I get a bunch of pictures of the old style isolators. The S2s has issues with the tabs on the newer isolators rubbing the bolt on side plates, and I think that's why people use the old style in them rather than the newer style. If you do happen to have the newer style, you can make them fit with a little grinding. Otherwise I believe the new replacements should look just like the ones you currently have on the bike. |

I don't see how the tabs make any contact. However, the width of the rubber creates contact with the downtube. I've had to cut 1/4" of rubber away for clearance. Even doing that, of course, still gives a lot more rubber than the old ones. |

"I don't see how the tabs make any contact. However, the width of the rubber creates contact with the downtube" That's probably what I heard. I don't have any personal experience with S2s, just remembered something needed cut down. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Once the weather gets a little warmer I'll stick the bike on the lift and do the dirty deed. I've had the alloy side plates off the bike before so this should be a pretty straightforward repair. |
