I have a bike that is newish to me (3 years owning but haven't ridden it much) that I would like to rebuild the top end on. Ideally I would like to keep the jugs and get new rings and gaskets.

I haven't been able to locate a kit or anything that contains all of those pieces, but I have found some recommendations for gasket sources.

Anybody have any sources/advice for rings?

Did something bad happen to it or is it just leaking?

Leaking/blow-by coming out of the air intake (forcewinder). I am tired of looking at it in the garage and want to get it back on the road without getting oil splatter on me every time I ride.

I did the breather bypass mod but that hasn't alleviated the issue.

How many miles are on the bike? If its more than 20k and you just install a set of rings your blow by will increase. It's like putting a round peg in a oval hole, the rings are seated to the shape of the oval cylinders after 20k. I would bore the cylinders and install a set of +020 pistons, pig tail, and all new gaskets.

One more thing: The breather setup that comes with the forcewinder is terrible.
It's as if it was deliberately designed to condense out the baby-snot and dribble it on your leg and boot.

Before you put the bike under the knife, I suggest you run the hose to a little temporary catch bottle and actually look at what is coming out.

I'll wager that it's 85% oily water.

I have long since given up with intelligent breathers and run that hose down to right in front of the exhaust outlet.
