I have had a few people contact me over the last year that have seen photos of my S1 bikes with fat bars to see if they could get a conversion block from me.

I have been a little out of the scene here for a bit, other than a short message now and then...its been a busy 1 1/2 years with retiring from the USAF, moving, settling into new home, new version of life, daughter turning 3(!!!), getting back into civilian flying and qualifications in a few different jets for what I do now.

Yes life has been hectic, but when I saw this new thread about how to put fatbars on a tube frame, I thought I would take some time and get some parts made again.

I am not a machinist, so this takes some time out of my life and schedule to get these things set up, and its really not cost productive to make a single set for someone, so I would like to see how many other people would like to run fat bars on their S1, get a group-buy together and then get them made at once. Per normal, I dont make anything off this, I have to pay the machinist, pay for packaging and shipping to me from the machinist

The genesis for the part...:
Every set of Buell bars I tried were slightly tweaked, leaving me to believe that the jig that was used was probably slightly out of true (look down at your fork tubes with stock bars and you will notice that you can see more of one adjuster than the other, the bars do not sit true to the fork tubes...), and I prefer the fat bars for feedback and feel and of course looks.

There is a 1" rise to this design as it sits in the cradle (of the cast-in cradle riser top tree, I do have a design for the bolt in riser style for the '96 bikes as well and if enough interest is generated I will run a production of those as well ).

The 1" rise allows for enough material to make the step from 7/8 to 1 1/8 and use a nice aggressive lower rise bar without sacrificing comfort.

This is the best set-up for ergonomics, feel, rider stance and look for these bikes!

I wanted to be able to use the stock gauge mount plate and bikini fairing and there was nothing else on the market so I worked up this part to solve the "problem".

I can get these made for $170.00 a set if you source your own hardware. In the past when I passed along a part to folks I included hardware and it ended up eating me alive, a few parts I actually lost money on instead of breaking even.

I would like to order these in about a week, I've talked to the machinist and he has time right now to turn these out for me.

Please keep the thread rolling, adding your name to the list in a copy past build as it goes.

It’s great that you’re doing this Dave. Congrats on your retirement. My S1 is a museum piece or I’d jump on it.

Hey Jolly, I just found this post.
These are awesome.
Is it too late to get one of these?

Hey Dave, I got your message today, I was out flying late last night and my iPhone isn’t pushing voicemails for some reason. I’ll call you tomorrow evening. I’ve got some questions about the bar switch, controls and such. Glad to hear your still keeping the dirty side down. : )
