Hi guys - I going to start digging into the S2T I picked up in the spring. Overall, it just needs some refreshing. When riding it, I noted that it had some serious vibrations. It looks like the front mount is torn. The bike has about 35k on it. Should I replace the front only or bite the bullet and do all three? I have to admit, I’m a little nervous with the side mounts because I have to modify the S3 mounts to work. Any help in this department is really appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy |

Just replace the front one and inspect the rears for cracks. If the rears are needed you can use 47564-86B mounts that are called for in the parts book. |

Hey David! Hope you are keeping the dirty side down. I’m wondering if you recall in putting the new isolators on with the “tab”? Do you have to trim the ear down or will they bolt in without interfering with the side plates? I read both stories on here. |

The ears of the new style isolaters are a question for me too. Is it as simple as trimming them off? |

Some say trimming isn’t needed, bolt on and go. I guess I’ll find out and post back when I go at it before spring. As far as the front mount the bolt is smaller I’ve been told. People run the new hardware and isolator without problems but there have been talks of a bushing, maybe some lone could 3D print something. |

Or you can ream the isolator out. Which I did, next time I think I'll make a bushing. |

I plan on ordering one before I get back into that part of my bike so I can slide it in, since the bolt through the front engine mount is really the only part of the connection where the smaller bolt makes a difference. Shame Buell didn't include the right part with the updated kit. Either way, take your own measurements if you want to be positive that's the right diameter before ordering. |

Well I just installed the new style isolators with the ears on my s2. The ears are fine and don’t need trimming. What does need trimming is the rear side of the isolator to clear the down tube. I put it on my bench grinder and ground off about a third of an inch from the rear side of the isolator straight down to match the side plate straight area, just the metal plate closest to the side plate and about half the rubber going toward the rear metal plate. I didn’t grind on the rear metal plate of the isolator at all. I then painted the freshly ground areas with PJ1 satin black frame paint to prevent rust. Everything then went together nicely. I’m going to swap out the front mount maybe tonight, just to update it to the latest version. |

Oh I had no problems removing the bolts from the side plates. I did replace them with new stainless bolts from Albany county fasteners, I got a bag of 15 I think for about $15 shipped. Part number 47072 from www.albanycountyfasteners.com if anyone is interested. Oh be sure to put on a dab of blue loctite and some antisieze on the back of the bolt heads before reinstalling. Lady luck was smiling on you. Mine were a bear to get out. Mine had nylon lock nuts though, so I didn't use Loctite. I did put anti-seize on the heads though. That's good advice. |
