I assume the studs themselves are the same, they just come with different styled nuts with the different flange? Or are you referring to the plate that mounts on the headers that the studs are holding down? |

The plate that is held onto the header with the C-clip. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/604575.html?1291073765 it fits great, looks and works much better! Don't forget the ARP kit and I would suggest buying from the above woman veteran owned vendor. They do a very nice job polishing very high quality bolts and have great customer service! I've purchased pretty much everything they offer that will fit my bike! |

Holy crap, why does EVERYTHING have to be a complete PITA on this bike? I spent almost 2 hours last night just trying to install new exhaust gaskets and the header. Pretty much just ended up drenched in sweat and pissed off. I ruined 2 gaskets, the other two went in "ok", but I won't be surprised if I end up with a leak. I have 2 perfectly good headers and both of them fit like crap. I get one side lined up and the nuts started, then go to the other head and the flange immediately binds up bad enough that the final nut is pretty much impossible to get started. There is no way I'm going to get the nuts torqued properly with the flanges bound up like that. Finally had to just say F-it and walk away for the night. Just venting, but I've never touched anything in my life that was this fiddly with every single aspect of the everything. I don't think I've had one part just easily disassemble and reassemble on this bike without some sort of special attention, special tool, or at least one headache. I've liked working on every bike I've ever owned. I don't like working on this one. Its seriously about one more broken part away from being a garage ornament hanging from the rafters. /rant |

Sorry to hear you were having a rough night. I haven't had to pull my exhaust on this bike so I haven't gone through any of this stuff yet, but judging from the long string of issues my bike has had in the past year and a half since I bought it(like how I just pulled my front wheel to change the tire, and was left with a front brake that wouldn't build pressure AND a stripped rotor bolt), I'm sure when I pull mine off someday I'll have some kind of broken stud or mounting issues to deal with. Tough when you just want to get the bike back together to ride it, not nearly as bad if you just start to think of the bike as a puzzle you need to work your way through. It's almost the weekend. Let it sit for a couple days and get back to it when you get time. |

Almost, kinda, sorta got it back together this weekend. Its at least sitting back on its own wheels instead of hanging from the rafters. Exhaust is rigged up as best as i think I can do and body work is back on. Still have a few odds and ends to wrap up, but nothing too headache worthy. Hopefully just need an oil filter, battery recharge, and a fresh tank of fuel before I can hit the starter. Hoping the exhaust holds together this time. If not, I've got to trash whats left of this Borla and find a better solution. |

It's a shame those exhausts seems to be such a hassle. People seem to love the way they sound, but have constant headaches with mounting them. |

Yeah.....this thing was a mess when I bought it. Problem is, I didn't know it. I didn't know squat about tubers when I made the trade for it. I just saw a sweet looking unique bike that I thought would be fun to have around. Little did I know....LOL. I'm hoping after this latest round up updates, I can manage to hold it together. I replaced all 3 isolators, added a stenzel support bar, and also the Z-bracket to the rear mounting location. I ended up using a offset P-clamp for the front mount, and 2 offset P-clamps to the Z-bracket in the rear. Also a brand new heavy duty muffler clamp where the header attaches to the pipe. Fingers crossed that is the last time I have to think about it for a while. |

Good luck! My XB didn't ever have the slightest problem. I knew the tuber would need more attention but don't think I assumed it would be this much. It's October already, just a handful of weeks left to ride before it's teardown season anyway. 37 degrees this morning, I crapped out and drove the truck to work. I was sick this weekend and used that as my excuse, but there WAS frost on my windshield if that counts for anything. |

I rode it.....I rode it.....I rode it! and it only let me sit 4 times.......hahaha. Put about 75 miles on it total today. It held together so far and it didn't puke any fluids. I'm a happy camper. Once I get the suspension sorted out, its going to be great I troubleshot the letting me sit issue down to a clogged vent line for the tank. It was randomly just shutting off like it was out of gas. I after opening the tank it would always restart right away and be fine for another 10-15mins. During all of this work I also swapped my little tank out for a Manta tank. I thought I might have a bad rollover valve, but when I got home and got my gear off I pulled the hose off and it hissed like you just cut the valve stem off a tire. Turns out it had some gunk clogging it down at the end. On that note......Any reason that hose can't be super short and just end somewhere up by the front of the bike instead of snaked down through the frame to the rear? |

Because although the vent is designed to let air in, sometimes fuel pukes out. If you shorten the tube it so it can discharge fuel above the exhaust pipe, bad things might happen. You can run it down to vent near the front of the bike if you wish, but watch out for hot surfaces nearby. |

Be very careful when you're switching tanks and messing with that hose. Do NOT let the tank sit with had I it without the house connected for any extended period of time. The fitting on the gas tank is hollow, it's not a valve, and will let gas fumes pour pour onto your tank, don't ask me how I know. Awesome news that you got to ride it though!Sounds like a nice ride. |

Its pretty amazing how much of a difference there was with regards to vibrations. Not sure what made the biggest difference, but the bike is much stiffer now. I'm assuming the 3 isolators I pulled off were the originals. None of them were torn, but they were pretty soft. Even sitting in the driveway, idling is much different now. You used to be able to watch the motor rock back and forth in the frame, now it is rock solid. I'm sure adding the Stenzel bar helped that as well, but hard to say how much. Good note about the rollover valve being open. I have 3 tanks, the paint is shot on all of them, but I don't want them to get worse. I'll probably vent it down to my catch can as S1owner mentioned. Seems like the best solution to keep it from getting clogged up again. |
