I've been toying with the idea of trying to come up with some sort of XB style cheesegrater fender for my S1. I know I saw someone on the forum who made one out of sheet metal once(S1owner??), not positive who. I know stock huggers would solve the problem, but I can't bring myself to spend $200 to mount one of those giant things on my bike, and I know how rare/sought after they are so I know I'm never going to come across a cheap one. I'll be swapping my swingarm for an aluminum one when I get some time, so that won't be an option anyway.

Anyone have any pictures of S1's with extra rear fenders fitted to the back? I searched and can't find anything. I wouldn't mind finding one from another bike I could cut up to fit, or potentially just trying to make something. Someday I'll have a second bike with some better protection, but currently I'm just a little tired of getting to work with my backpack covered in water and mud when it's not even raining, because of water being on the road. We've had some serious rain here this week in the evenings. I've still been able to ride to work 4 out of the 5 days, but I've been swerving puddles left and right, and a few spots it was just streaming across the whole road so all you can do is suck it up and run through it.

Did you have that on your original S1 tail, or is that on your current tail?

Someday in the future I wanted to get a sheet of 3/16-1/8th aluminum and make a nice looking plate bracket/undertail for the S1 that runs right up to the oil tank, so it doesn't get all of that water and grime up under the seat, but I haven't been able to find any pictures of anything like that either. I know I saw a picture of a really nice one at some point, but in all of my searching, I haven't been able to find it again. Any pictures of what you had?

This is a picture of a similar one I'd like to make, only on an X1. Only difference is the black undertail would be the S1's oil tank, and of course it wouldn't look as nice and clean since the tail on the S1 is a bit more open and round.

It was on the S1. I made it from stainless. Trimed to fit up to the oil tank very nicely. I cut it the same size as the outside of the tube and rolled the whole edge up all the way around. Used a radianz plate mount with integrated brake and turns It was very clean.
I will look for a pic on the computer

ya, i used to use photobucket but its ticked me off too... ive switched to google images since it automatically updates the photos i take with my phone and saves it all by date. I need to transfer my ton of photobucket pics over.

I think that's the one I was thinking of. Thank you! I'll have to send him a message and see if he has any good pictures of how he attached it and how well it held up.

I remember I used to have all of my old pictures on Yahoo photos, then they bought flickr and for some reason didn't transfer all of your photos over automatically. I logged in one day and all of my pictures were gone... I also use Google photos now, and have an external hard drive to try and keep everything in multiple places. Gonna be a nightmare to dig through all of that stuff in 20 years when I'm trying to find something and have a million pictures to dig through.

Also his does not inclose the under side as there is no oil tank there. At one point he did have it closed though
