I've been thinking about selling a bike and buying either a flht evo or a fxrs.

Would you say the fxrs is better than the buell x1?
I was thinking either I sell one bike for a fxrs, or two bikes one the x1 and buy a old flht and fxrs.

What do you guys think of the old flht evo and fxrs?
Basically I have a bad back so I could use a softer ride or cushier seat.

Better ride one before you decide.

The FXRS is really nice, for a big twin.

However, it will always be a big, heavy, crude cruiser that handles better than the other big, heavy crude cruisers out there.

I've always just bought the bike first. : D

So I should get the flht at least I'll have a radio? : D
Was looking at the fxrp but I think I like the s better.
I'm thinking about selling my supermoto for something I can be more comfortable and still upright on. It however is my most reliable bike at the moment.
The x1 seat isn't that bad compared to it.

I do like the weight of the x1.

I think you'd be better off with a Ulysses. You'd get good suspension, an upright riding position, a really good seat and a bit more pep.

Ride the FXRP. I have that sprung seat on my softtail and rode from Florida to Wisconsin without stopping to sleep. The seat is a Harley part, with a -27 part number indicating it's been in production since 1927.

Hadn't looked at the spring seat but thats a good idea. I was thinking of a mustang seat which a lot of those are replaced with. I kinda like the fxrd to and been wanting a flht for a while.

In a way I want a bike that blends in, radio would be cool, but I think I'm after comfort the most. Easily maintained anywhere, long distance capable.

My friend got himself a police bike.
He ended up loving it so much that he go another.

Those utilitarian hockey puck handles on the bags and pneumatic single seat are hard to beat on a long trip.

Comes with steel equipment shelf thing in the back.

His only gripe is the twincam's cam drive seems to define the life of the engine as 70,000 miles.

Perhaps the newer twinkies are good? So far, the old Evo 80" is still looking pretty good.

Nice!
I've only bought black bikes and looking for one with at least factory black frame. : D
Every bike I've bought has been black. Though dark blue is a pretty nice factory color to.

I looked at old police bikes with twin cam before..
I only want the old evo, flht or/and fxr/s/d/p. Kinda like the factory d/p fairing on the fxr. It kinda stands out though don't see to many..

One thing I've always had was a lane splitable bike, legal here and ideal since there is really heavy traffic, keeps the bike from heating up.

I've never ridden a hd with side bags but at the store not bad..

Here's the bike I'm thinking of selling and the x1.. I dunno. Still fun to ride but not everyday..

Just read the d was only made for one year, so probably will look for a fxrt/fxrp and look into a spring seat..

Story of my life. At one point I tried so hard to start buying things in colors. The farthest I could get was dark blue. Now I've got a silver S1 and a silver truck. I guess it's a start. Not sure why it's so hard to buy something in primary colors haha.

So many letters in this thread! hard to keep up with if you don't know which bikes are which by HD's lettering system.

California Highway Patrol used FXRPs in the eighties and nineties with the spring seat and special high-performance heads. I uncrated and test-rode about a hundred of them. Fun job! Had to certify each one could maintain 100mph+ for over a mile.

Cool!, oddly enough I don't think I've ever seen a fxrp around so cal. I'm in cali. : ) I think this will be my next bike. I'll try not to sell any bike and just save up for one because after I ride a bike I don't want to sell it. LOL. : )

As I am turning 66 yrs old this month, I keep looking at cruisers and sport cruisers thinking I should slow down and seek comfort. Then I go for a ride on my Buell, why would I give this up. Buy your cruiser, but keep the supermoto. I'm in norcal there are just too many good roads to wrestle with a big cruiser. Just my 2 cents Ride on

I love Torque & good handling, i have 88" barrels for the sporty will have forks n shocks set up for bike & my weight.
Also will set up the front brake, not as good as Buell but want it to look stock

My back feels like I'm 66. I'm still under 40.. : D
I got scoliosis from school books, over populated and not enough lockers. It's a S curve but worst curve is the lower not holy shit that's f'd up but still..

Here's my sport tour project..
It needs a stator or solenoid and other stuff. Currently not running but was and was quite fast.

This is my favorite Sportster vid on YouTube . I don't feel the need to go fast but I enjoy torquey motors. I kinda want a ninja h2 and a fz1 to but don't really need those at all. lol!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GU6ZsTfuFa4

I saw this Sportster with fxr fairings and bags recently since I'm a fan of the guys builds.. It's a interesting build.

Yeah would be a bummer if I can't ride anymore!!!
It's pretty bad sometimes, as I get older it doesn't get better.. lol!

Worst was in 2011, I was in the kitchen lost use of my legs for one second. Basically collapsed straight down like sitting. That's when I went to get X-rays. Only happened once but it's scary to think of. So I will enjoy while I can.. : )

Lol! That's awesome. : D Nice rig, there's a Ducati shop that sells urals side carts. Those are pretty cool.

Nah no cam for me. I like the side cart though.
My physical therapist, only went once in 2011, said I should do side lean exercises everday so I'm a sense motorcycling is my physical therapy.

I found this vid of a guy with a back fusion. Kinda inspiring. Even though just riding in his driveway..
I've seen the back rests on a few bikes even hayabusas, always wanted one of those to. lol

If you think a motorcycle ride takes the place of side-lean exercises for therapy...well, there's why you have a bad back. Do your therapy, stretch your muscles, extend your range of motion, and keep your joints functioning...and the "bad back" will get a million times better.

I nearly lost both legs in a wreck in '08. Have about 2 lbs of titanium in my legs and left hip now. I did my therapy...hard...and when people see my scarring for the first time, they're amazed. "You don't walk with a limp or anything". Nope...I don't. Because I learned what my therapy was about, did more reps than they asked me to do, and got my legs (and life) back.

X1Bully sorry to read about your health problem.
I ride a bicycle ( mountain bike ) helps me.
That sporty with fxr front looks ok, but since my run on rigid mount motor sporty, i'm a firm beleaver in belt drive & heavy xl flywheel as smooth's them out not like rubber mount or counter balancer. But my sporty feels fine & nothing cracked or came loose, easy to change if break a belt drive on sporty too.

Resale value is where it's at. X1 Buell v flht and fxrs. there is no compertition
X1 looses by a mile and a half.
If your looking for Giggles. X1 wins.

Ps. the giggles are you feeling stupid for getting sucked in.

Thanks been looking for a bandit website. I've been thinking about getting a 1" bar riser for it.

Yeah I've been doing more excercises lately. Wow that is wild. I started wearing boots regularly since I saw some bad foot injury moto pics. My favorites are icon patrol and sidi on roads.

I almost bought a 2000 Sportster s but I backed out on the deal from a dealership. It was $2500. Plus shipping.. but yeah I like Sportsters. I really like just being submerged in the ocean with arms on the surfboard and waiting for glassy waves, takes the gravity off my back but kinda like shark bait out there, especially now that people aren't hunting and eating them like they used to. lol

I know. I'd like a new tail for it. Like this one.
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/505843.html?1256921894
So far I just got a bagster tank bra because I'm done with backpacks!!! : D
But yeah I could use a bike with side bags so a flht and fxrt with upright seat would be nice.

Back injuries suck!!
Got injured in 08, L4 L5 hurniation had surgey, contracted staph and bacterial meningitis, died once had 13 surgeries over 2 years to end up where I am.
I have a 05 softail deluxe with a seat reworked with F16 seat foam, raised and moved forward bars and i can ride all day if I get off every 1 or 2 hours and walk. But with the Buell I can ride for 3-4 hours because the seating position andlow bars put the weight onto my legs chest and arms.
Every injury is different if you can ride a few bikes long distance maybe rent them

Wow man! You guys got all sorts of injuries to. lol! I thought I was pretty good being able to ride with scoliosis, well it took me about 10 yrs to adjust and perfect my balance so I could ride the slowest slow race..

I like the fls to but the cheapest I've seen them is 10k. I asked about the fls before and people suggested the spring seat. I didn't know they had them on the fxr p.
The fls is another bike I would like to own for a bit to.

I used to have a gen 1 bmw boulder suit and that suit was awesome. I could probably fly off and not get hurt but the armor was heavy and I couldn't wear it any more.
Rode the first time without suit in winter. Man even here it gets pretty cold. I have a jacket but no winter suit pant but I had some dual lined jeans that helped, and higher boots. Sidi On roads.

So that's why I'm kinda looking for fairing or half for winter riding but a bike like the fls would be the one to run for summer. : D
