OK guys, looking to give some love to my Marchesini wheels on the S2T. Last year I took the bike out to Philly three times for family funerals. On the first trip, the rotor was so rusty that when I first pulled over in Hammond Indiana, rust was actually dripping and pooling on the front wheel. Next two trips out not one drop of corrosion. Probably because I got the rotor hot enough to slow down the corrosion. I will be putting on Galfer wave rotors soon. How do you guys get the Marchesini wheels looking like new again? I appreciate all your input... |

I would use a fine rubbing compound. Then wax. |

What Loose1 said....rubbing / polishing compound, then wax to make it easier to clean in the future. I got lucky when I got my S2T there were no scratches and only one tiny chip from a tire change so they polished up nice. I assume you have the "charcoal grey" color wheels (and frame / side plates) - If you find a touch-up paint that's a close match let me know |

Wheels are charcoal grey. I'll have more cleaners/waxes than oil on the shelf soon. Maybe all my Buell's will become garage queens! Not a chance |

I have used mother's aluminium polish on the wheels to pull brake dust and some chemical stains off powdercoated wheels with great success. |

Yep, the white diamond metal polish at the auto parts store is good stuff too, can polish headlights/powder coat with it. |

I was just wondering that about my wheels. I have the rear wheel off now because I had to change the tire. I spent a little time cleaning it up nice, but the paint is getting a bit rough, and there was at least one nice size ding that can't be helped by anything but a file. I'll second Tigermann, if you find a source for the paint, let me know. Otherwise, someday when I get time the whole bike is getting torn down and cleaned up. I'll just find a similar gray and go over the wheels and frame. [Hopefully this is related enough to not be a thread jack, but has anyone found any 90° angled valves that'll fit in the Marchesini wheels?? I almost ordered some when I was replacing my tire. Of the information I could find, I found out you need the 8mm valve stems, the normal 11mm are just for Japanese bikes. The only problem is that the thickness of the rim at that spot is about .45", and none of the valve stems I can find are long enough to pass through the other side of the hole for the locknut to be put on. I know I can still get air in the tires, it'd just be a lot more convenient if I could switch to angled valves next time I replace tires. I'm perfectly fine with drilling out the holes to 11mm if needed, but I haven't seen any extra long valve stems in either size. The second link is the only time I've seen someone made it work, and I don't consider it a big enough hassle to be worth taking my wheels to a machine shop. http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/2 71877.html?1176823019 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/281703.html ] (Message edited by upthemaiden on May 10, 2017) (EDIT: I'm just gonna start a new thread about the valve stems in the OSB section, in case any of you guys have any information.) Be careful with heavy cleaners, you'll take the lettering off the "Marchesini" stickers. DAMHIK. |

They weren't identical stickers, but I did see a set of 4 Marchesini rim decals on ebay for about $4. Probably worth grabbing a set of those if you're looking perk up the wheels a little. |

Id find a powder coater close to you. We are lucky to have one in my town. He's a go cart guy but does excellent work. He can match most any color and finish. http://m.jrpwracing.net/powdercoating.php#comehere |
