Anyone know how to get the bag open when the latch quits working?

Check the knowledge vault. You need to drill a small hole into the latch area. It's been done on both of my bags. I filled with silicone in case I need to fix them again.

Here's a pic I posted years ago when my latch broke.
Drill is a 3/16", use a small screwdriver or a piece of stiff wire to trip the bell crank.

Ok,here's the busted latch tab.Has anyone come up with a fix,are the latches still available?

A machinist friend of mine fixed it by drilling into the remaining casting and inserted a stainless steel pin to replace the missing casting. Been fine since.

When one of mine stopped working, I drilled them both out as well and siliconed the holes, against it happening again. Which I don't think it will. I *also* removed the mechanism covers, and gently bent the bar that trips the plate ever so slightly, so it HAS to impact the trip-plate. I then put a tiny drop of oil in each moving pivot of the mechanism just because.
So far so good.
