Been trying to sort out a irregular low rev vibration issue (2500-1500rpm decel/disengaged clutch)and I believe I've singled out the rear isolators as the culprit.
Although there's no clear evidence of tearing in or around, the rubber does appear to sag within the cup and is no longer on a horizontal plane across the bike.

Looks like the big ear Buell rear isolators are near impossible to get...

So, are my options limited to the the old HD# 47564-86 FLT/FXR Rear isolators?

Just a little bit hesitant about putting those in the bike, a knowledge vault search stated that "in a pinch they'll get you down the road" which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, but a search also revealed that these were the rear isolators originally in the tubers?

I've replaced the rears almost a decade ago, and honestly don't remember which style came out.
A little insight/advice before I proceed would be awesome!

I just ordered a complete set of tuber isolators from Lance via Ebay a few weeks ago. I don't think they are rare rainbow unicorns quite yet. Should still be readily available

Lance hasa stated that 1 side is extramly rare and in short supply. The other side price on that one has quadrupled because of short supply. They are ALMOST GONE for sure.

Its Lance or the OLD STock websites

Yep, find it parts has L0504.9 for $30 shipped on eBay. Front isolator about the same price. The right hand, L0505.9, is $77 from new castle HD plus shipping.

How sure are you that your isolators are kaput?

@hootowl
I'm not entirely sure. The excessive vibe issue is noticeable during regular operation, but most noticeably stop sign to stop sign, when the revs are coming back down between 2500-1500rpm. It's a noticeable shudder, and the vibes are transmitted throughout the bike, especially through the pegs.
I've blipped the throttle and revved the motor through different rpm ranges in the garage trying to visualize, listen, and feel/touch where the issue is coming from. Although there is noticeable feedback coming from the front isolator on decel, the most noticeable feedback is coming from the rear isolators. This is why I suspect the rear isolators.
As I stated before, I don't see any obvious tearing inside the isolator cups, and the big ear rear iso's don't have the alignment lines to verify twisting, in addition I don't see any kind of outer deformities. My only evidence is, the amount of vibration being transmitted through the rear iso bolts, the amount of visual sag of the cup(not related to the off-center location of the bolt), and the amount of movement of the bolt when the bike is weighted.

I can tell you that the big ear isolators are stiffer than the originals, and that my x1 has a similar shudder at those low revs. If they aren't torn, they're likely just fine.

Could just be harmonics.

Cold weather makes them stiffer and can make them vibe up more than usual.

Actually, mine is doing the same thing. It beats me up unless I have the rpms over 3-4k. I often keep it in 4th on the highway b/c vibrations are too much in 5th under 60 mph.

I know the rear bolt is offset but mine is almost or even touching the frame. Belt too tight contribute to this? I too suspect it is the isolators and they are 17 yrs old now.

i'm used to Harleys, My M2 shakes when i keep it at 1,500 to warm motor up on start up but once under load it feels smooth to me. i road a Shovel head that the motor was ridged mounted & a sportster ridged mount they vibrate a lot more. or at least you can feel there vibration a lot more than with the Buell. but new mounts can't hurt. good luck.

Alf
Just because you cant keep yours running correct does not mean the brand is bad it means the operator or mechanic is at fault which is you!
