Race ECM's, readily available replacement parts, such as control levers, shifters, brake pedals, plastics, electrical components, oxygen sensors, stock ECM's, brake rotors, fork tube seals,. My bike is not an antique it is 5 yrs old. How come I can walk into any yamaha dealer and readily get parts for a 24 yr. old 550 maxim, but not my buell which cost 3 times as much when new and is only 5 yrs old.

Mainly because most Buell parts tend to sit indefinitely at most dealers. A little exaggeration...but thats how they think.

every time i need work done on my 97 M2 i have to wait for parts... and wait... and wait... and wait!

i just had to wait a month for a front brake rotor and carrier... it finally arrived yesterday... in the past i've had to wait for a rear brake rotor, and before that, a drive sprocket... both of which were delayed by several weeks.

the dealership says that the delays are buell's fault, but i have no way to confirm this... is it normal for parts to take a month (or more) to ship from buell?

It takes 2-3 days to get an express-ordered part overseas from Germany at the BMW dealership I work at.
If Buell does not have a parts distribution center that stocks these parts ready for delivery, then it may take that long. It is hard to understand an American company taking such a long time to ship to an American .destination.

I do. Please e-mail me the specifics. It would be interesting to have the part numbers, dealer and other details and see when the order was entered and when it was shipped.

The last one of the "it's Buell's fault" that I tracked down was never ordered from the dealer.

Buell HAD big parts delivery problems a couple years ago. Some good folks took on the problem. They may be sporadic isolated items that cause problems now, but I'd pit Buell against anybody.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Oh, by the way, and since I don't work for Buell, I think your dealer is full of hogwash. Even if that were true, they'd be stupid to say that to a customer.

Your dealer is doing something wrong for parts to take that long. Are they trying to order using old part numbers or something?

I've never waited for more than 3/4 days, once the parts were ordered

LMAO--ROTHFL--

I have to order regular, should-be-on-hand, every day parts like oil and air filters and a new belt. Makes me freak'n crazy. I thought these parts were just normal Sporster parts, too.

Whatever, I've found an independant dealer in Bismark that's easier and more enthusiastic so now he gets my biz.
