Thought I would start a thread on how to quell the vibes on the Thunderbolt. I have 2 of these beasts and like the exclusive club of ownership. I noticed a lot of vibration when riding that wasn't engine isolator induced, so I started a process to identify and fix. Here you go:
1.) Seat- The seat attachment let's the seat do a dance that can be heard and felt. My cure was to rivet a plate to the bottom of the seat with a threaded stud that allowed the seat to be bolted from under the seat shroud. What a difference this simple mod made.
2.) Front headlight mount- This may not apply to your Buell but my mount allowed the whole headlight assembly to shake. I rebuilt the mount with more heavy duty hardware and placed some foam in between the light and the mount. Can't be seen with the glass fairing in place.
3.) Rebuilt the front disc/ carrier. There are more vibes to be had with worn out hardware components. All parts are still available. New carrier buttons and hardware did the trick here.
4.) Muffler mount. I had loose worn out bushings on the mount. These parts are still available and is one major fix that quelled an annoying vibe I felt at 3000 rpm.
5.) Shift linkage. I like stock motorcycles but I switched to banke shift linkage. Expensive but we'll worth it. This is a highly recommended mod. Banke is still in business and wi'll still sell u a set... for a price.
6.) Can the stock airfilter backing plate with an aluminum type. Sorry I don't remember the make of the plate. I noticed my filter was shaking in the assembly due to the poor fit of the backing plate. Also a poor leaky fit for the filter.
7.) Tighten up the motor and transmission mounts. I actually replaced all motor mounts.Easy fix.
8.) Rear tail light assembly. This assembly will brake the lense at three screw mounting post inside the lense. I epoxies the post and installed larger screws. This will need more work here cause I think the assembly will break again.
9.) Replace the recall shock with ANY high quality replacement. Amazing how real damping can effect how tight these great handling bikes can be.
After I did these fixes to my Buell I was amazed at how tight the bike felt.

They are an inherently great riding motorcycle. Post a pic.
