Correct on the bumper there is no difference in kickstands.
Curious what belt as you jumped up rear sprocket size the belt looks a little tight?

And as stated you need the correct axle

Damn....and I had literally just talked myself out of bidding on a rear wheel that Purpony had on Ebay for cheap today. Was going to slap it on my S1, but decided I needed to leave it as is for the time being. That looks really good. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for the next cheap rear XB wheel pops up.

Already too much to do this winter as it is.....
Need to redo the exhaust hangers, replace all the isolators, replace the shock mount to the later style so I can mount a used Penske I picked up, and maybe search out a black fender and fly screen to match the black manta tank I picked up (already have a spare black tail section)......oh yeah, and a seat.....damn it, i need a seat I can ride on for longer than 20 mins....LOL

S1owner I'm using the stock s1 belt. I was told it would work and I can push the belt down until it almost touches the swing arm.

Oopezoo you will have to upgrade to the x1 swing arm. I didn't know that when I decided to swap everything but I'm almost done now!!!

I had to buy a second steering stem from Jeff at Engineered Velocity because the High school auto shop I had press it in ruined it!!! Big shout out to Jeff for trying to fix it. It should be sitting back on two wheels by the end of the week!

Your belt is going to be to tight. Right now the swingarm is at an angle to the pivot (okay, it's always at an angle to the pivot, but it's the only way I can think of saying it right now). As it comes up the belt is going to get tighter; to the point where it will likely stop the swingarm from moving up through its full motion. That's murder on wheel bearings, output shaft bearings, the belt and the rotation of the world.

THE way to be sure is really simple. Remove the rear of the shock from the swingarm and then move the swingarm up through its full range of motion. At its tightest point there should be a bit of slack.

I do know most are running that set up.
Just so you know originally tou are at a 2.26 final gear ratio using the 65 in back will give you a 2.40 ratio which if I am correct will lower your top end speed or raise your rpm to go at a given speed but your low end will be more powerful.
Remember the stunt guys put huge rear sprockets on to get their wheel up instantly with little speed

Joesbuell was successful in welding the holes up in the original rear pulley and redrilling an XB bolt pattern. Not easy to do on the pot cast aluminum. I had a good welder try and it was not good results. I ended up making a custom gear 61 tooth xb pattern so I could maintain stock ride

Thanks for the heads up, I've got one sitting here....just need to find an axle and a set of adjusters for it.

When I originally bought my S1, the previous owner had already bought a bunch of stuff to start modding it. Then he bought a pristine X1 and forgot about the S1. I ended up with a spare NOS fuel tank, NOS tail section, X1 swingarm, exhaust header, and he still has a set of PM wheels I was considering......but I think I would rather go the XB wheel route.

And yeah.....that belt looks way uber tight. Sitting on the kickstand, mine looks like its going to fall off. The slack goes away once I plop my fat ass on the seat.

With the XB wheel conversion, all you can do is push the wheel all the way forward on the adjusters. You don't get quite enough slack to set up per La Fayette's instructions.

Maybe that someone already had a look into this ,but could it be possible to mill the slots and adjusting area a bit longer!?
Or is that section from the swing arm already hollow?

Yeah the tire is to close to mill the slots and it should be back on two wheels by Thursday and I will pm you S1owner I know that there is a s1 with this swap in Cali that is using the s1 belt and that said it's fine but I'm not opposed to getting a touch longer belt. And sounds like you got a good start oop.

Well
I do believe there is enough room if you run it all the way forward.
At all cost avoid diffrent size belts!!
Next size is a 130 I believe does not sound like much but it is to big and will skip. I think the sizes are
128
130
132
133
135
136
137
139
140

These belts are 1 1/8" wide 14mm tooth pitch.
There are several bikes not just HD that run them. Also this tooth pitch is common on machinery we have all kinds if machines ans some run this pattern they are actually gates kevlar belts! They just happen to be 15 ft long !

using my xb 61 tooth conversion pulley and the stock X1 belt... with no weight on my bike, i can compress my belt on both the top and bottom at the same time and touch the swingarm. "scary loose"

The diameter on the XB 65 tooth pulley to the tip of the tooth is 11.3" and the 61 tooth tuber pulley is only 10.6"

Adding sn example to pupony
I have a 139 t belt stock 27 front and the same XB conversion 61 tooth rear and with the tensioner its to loose. Put the stock 65 tooth on and remive the tensioner and the 139 will nit even fit way to short.
4 teeth is a huge diffrence

Ok so I have went and completely bottomed out the adjusters and I consider the belt "scary loose" I can easily put the top of the belt to where it touches the swing arm ,and while holding the top against the swingarm I can put the bottom to where it's about 1/2" from touching.

Is your bike still up off the ground? I'd just try removing the bolt between the shock and the swingarm so you can move it freely and see if the belt gets too tight. It would only take a couple minutes since you have that hoist, and would be the safest way to know.

Do places still sell that frame/sidestand bumper that Court posted the numbers for? I've never seen those mentioned before when people talked about swapping their swingarms. Something else I'll have to track down before I get time to swap mine someday.

Precise belt adjustment is so easy using Bullistic's method that I just can't justify using a less accurate method.

When the sprockets and the swingarm pivot are lined up, the belt can be adjusted for no slack because the belt is at its tightest point.

You can have 100% confidence that the belt will never be too tight when the swingarm moves through its arc.

There will also be the least possible amount of driveline lash but you willhave the maximum amount of belt tooth engagement.

When you set the belt that way, you can just about forget it until you install new tires.

Well it's back on 2 wheels. Still need the final touches. I'm gonna plastidip it and ride it for a while then probably next winter I will tear it down again and have everything powder coated and painted. That will give me plenty of time to get the bugs worked out and change up and little things I don't like.

Looking good! The profile of that seat looks a little different. I'm guessing someone shaved it a little to lower the seat height at some point. Do yourself a favor and glue a little more foam on there and sand it back down to a shape you like before you recover it. They're not the most comfortable seats to begin with.

Yes you do get used to it.
First comes this tingling feeling
Then you get an ache in the tail bone at 100 miles
Then your legs start tingling
The lower back pain becomes alost unbarable at 160 miles
Then your body shuts down to pain and you are goid to go!

But really there is nothing like the S1!!!!

Everyone's a little different, I guess...

I rode an Buell COV S1 from East Troy to Detroit (and back) for one of the first Woodward Dream Cruises.

It was quite an interesting trip, riding the S1 in the ditch on the side of the expressway to get around and overturned semi, getting stopped by MSP doing 80 in a 55 - and being let go!

But what I remember most vividly was that 'seat'. It's about 400 miles from East Troy to Detroit. I made it to Detroit reasonably well (after work on a Friday night IIRC), but coming home Sunday was another story. About 100 miles into my journey home, my ass had had enough. I bought a small camping pillow to sit on. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.

I'm sure I could handle much less now,

For having this kind of seat issues ,a mtb bicycle shorts does help a lot with relieving the pressure spots!
